message 7: by xvmrvx (new)

xvmrvx | 59 comments when im in a slump i like to also set a goal everyday... for example, read 30 or 40 pages a day. i also tried to read whatever i was in the mood for (at a certain point i found myself in the middle of 4 books) but it was worth it because the 4th book did it for me and got me outta the slump

message 8: by Ilse (new)

Ilse | 44 comments I typically reread a book I loved cause I know I enjoy reading it and it's something that I already know, so it doesn't take as much brain power to learn a whole new world (especially if reading fantasy). Then I move on to a new book and reading slump is cured <3

message 9: by Kylee (new)

Kylee (kyleeraereader) | 32 comments I read something super low pressure, kinda like a fun guilty read or a book I'm not invested in loving

message 10: by Erica (new)

Erica | 175 comments Sometimes you just need to let yourself quit reading a book you’re not enjoying/ in the mood for. Rereads are usually what work for me to get out of a slump because I can match my mood/attention span with a book. Trying a different format (ie graphic novel audio book kids picture book) can be helpful too.

B. Goodwin | 63 comments Why not read the sample of Disrupted on Amazon. If you like it, the investment for an e-book ($5.07) is quite reasonable.

Vismaya | 38 comments You should try reading a trope that you love but choose a light-hearted one. I personally love fantasy, bt during a slump, I usually read marriage of convenience or a cute rom-com.
• Rom-coms:
American roommate experiment - Elena Armas
I hope this doesn't find you - Ann Liang
Cheat sheet - Sarah Adams
• Marriage of convenience:
Unwanted marriage - Catharina Maura
Unwanted wife - Natasha Anders
King of wrath - Ana Huang
There are many more, of course, but these particularly helped me get over my slump.

P.s. Anne of Green Gables by L.M.Montgomery is an amazing book that is light-hearted, cute, sweet, fun, and so much more. You should definitely try it if you haven't!!

Kaven Borchardt (kavenjoseph) | 8 comments If you have book recommendations for someone like me with ADHD (in a slump rn :-;) please give me book recs! I enjoy dystopian, mature YA, thrillers, and anything completely off the rails or with mentally ill protagonists I would love. I also really like books around the 250 page mark. thank you SO much!! \(ϋ)/♩

message 14: by Jaime (new)

Jaime (jtgarner) | 8 comments The last set of books I really enjoyed weren't YA, but they are beautiful to look at and have a gorgeous fairytale setting with a grumpy fmc and a fae prince mmc. The Emily Wilde series by Heather Fawcett.

message 17: by Jas_a (new)

Jas_a Basicaly al most all off collen hover's Books ( the re usually fast paced romance books) or the great Spanish love deception ( I am not a usual romance reader I go for fantasv but a lot of times the world building or the character development are too complicated so I recommend a really light and short romance hope this helps❤️

J.T. Grayson | 1 comments My entire sci-fi fantasy thriller/adventure novel series is free on Kindle unlimited. I'm nearing completion on the fourth book :)

My first book has a 4.1 rating on Amazon, but here on goodreads, I've only got single two-star review, I hope that doesn't scare anyone away!

Halloway I: Unbound
Halloway II: Echoa
Halloway III: DiurNoctus

Aaron Choi | 2 comments Honestly, some Brandon Sanderson books are great. I read those if I can't find anything else to read. Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff's Aurora Cycle isn't too shabby either. That has some romance in it. IDK what you want to read, but feel free to tell me!
