i was almost a stage hand but i couldn’t make it to the performances bc my grandma got shoulder surgery. i’m too scared to audition but i’ve always wanted to.

it’s the only theater group in the city so that why lol 😅 (small town problems) but it’s a private community funded group that puts on semi-annual productions. they also host workshops to teach kids and adults how to act. the big productions are all age casts but there are smaller ones for specific age groups. it’s fun, but i haven’t been in awhile.

i wish i had something like that, @may the most i got is my school plays and im done with those too! the way it works is that years 7-10 are performing (play, musicals, dance and choir) and year 12 run it. yr 11 dont do because we're busy with gcses, so i wasnt in it this year, was so sad. every other year ive been in the play tho
but otherwise there's nothing in my community/area that puts on any shows, so i never get to act other than school. (hopefully i'll be play head next year, so that will be fun and a new experience)
none of them are known established plays, they're taken from stories/books and written by the schooli think
year 7 was toy story - i was mrs potato head(i have never lived that down0
year 8 was covid so the play was cancelled :_(
yr 9 was a play about a childless couple who find a child abandoned on the street and have to fight to adopt her and the story of her growing up- i was the dad
yr 10 was set in the roman times about a girl who wasnt allowed to marry someone becasue of status/money/he wasnt learned enough and was disowned - i was also the dad

😭 do you give off fatherly vibes or do they just really like to cast you as the dad?
haha ik, i mean they were completely different roles, the first one was VERY fatherly and quite neutral, and the second was much more shouty, angry, frustrated but also remorsed and way more volatile
ive never just been a girl tho, just a potato and a dad
i'm just glad i didnt have to sing any of the songs
I don’t know who I’d be without being in musicals. It’s been some of the best experiences in my life. Whether it’s school, local, or professional theatre, I’ve loved all of them!!
what type of plays do ur respective towns put on? musicals, dramas etc

is there a huge difference between professional and local theatre?

School- Free to go to, bad mics, cheap props and costumes, small set, barely any crew, all run by basically students, small audiences, short performances, 3 performances
Local- Medium performances, no mics, costs around $10, no set or crew, medium audiences, 5 performances
Professional- Big performances, 40 performances, large audiences, costs $50+, big set, large crew, good mics, lists of costume changes. Basically the level under traveling Broadway.

It is! I love acting!! Musicals are definitely my favorite though! Singing is more my passion than theater.
Well, I didn’t discover that I liked theatre until about 3 years ago, so not many.
