Now that our April Readathon is over, we may have stirred up such a strong reading impulse that we can't just stop and go back to non-readathon life. Maybe we started a few too many books during the readathon, and now our 'currently reading' stack is getting a bit silly. Well, for the next week we are in Readathon Cooldown mode. Pop in every so often an let us know what you are reading as we ease back into normality.

I never really settled in to read for my own Bingo boards, so now that my admin duties have mostly passed for a while, I am going to see if I can finish a few bingos on the Elements themed boards. I started 5 books during the readathon that I didn't finish, so I'm hoping to finish them this week:
Ice Station Zebra
Girl on a High Wire
The Deep End of the Ocean
The Fallen Fortress
The Coincidence Makers

I have been enjoying my reading, my GR friends somehow often reading what is on my lifetime bucket list or on my reread just one-more-time list. Ahhh the life of a reader on social media. . .

To complete the pre-readathon Directional Challenge, I will be reading:
* The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck
* 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea by Jules Verne

Good idea Jamie . I'm on it .

Cathy (cathepsut) | 570 comments I wanted to make a big dent into The Water Outlaws, but struggled. I did continue last night, after the readathon, and built up a little more momentum.

Then there is The Murder of Mr. Ma, which seems to be a re-telling of The Sign of Four with a Chinese twist.

And I will continue with The Walking Dead, Vol. 26: Call to Arms.

Elizabeth | 316 comments I'm hoping to finish my in progress reads from the directional challenge and the readathon, plus I would love to get to at least a few more of the graphic novels.

Currently in progress:
The Pickwick Papers by Charles Dickens Blowout Corrupted Democracy, Rogue State Russia, and the Richest, Most Destructive Industry on Earth by Rachel Maddow The Bridgertons Happily Ever After (Bridgertons, #1.5-8.5; 8.6) by Julia Quinn Monstress, Vol. 8 Inferno by Marjorie M. Liu When Clouds Touch Us by Thanhhà Lại

Cathy (cathepsut) | 570 comments Ok, I DNFd The Water Outlaws last night at 30%. It just didn‘t grab me and I was done with forcing myself to pick it up.

Anyway, 2024 Dewey’s Reverse Readathon will be July 26-27, starting at 8pm Eastern Time on Friday, July 26th. That‘s 2am CET on Saturday, right?

Vavita | 159 comments Yes, Cathy!! I already blocked my calendar. No problem for me to wake up so early. I think it will be a successful readathon for me.

I finished the The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck. Very well written by a great American writer. Only in the last couple of years have I come to see how great Steinbeck is. . . . .Yet this novel has a hint of the painful due to the topic.

I love Steinbeck so much. His characters are so painfully real. Glad you enjoyed Grapes of Wrath, Cynda.
