Morgan Rose | 89 comments I really didn’t like The Ritual by Adam Nevill. It was so boring to the point that I stopped reading it at I believe 30%.

message 13: by Laura (new)

Laura Jane | 26 comments The Writing Retreat by Julia Bartz. I'm still angry i pushed myself through it to this day. The fact that it got so much attention is only because her sister wrote We Were Never Here which was boring but not rage inducing. I know a lot of people who liked it too and I try to understand but I can't lol

message 14: by Christine (new)

Christine Mathieu | 948 comments The Secret History by Donna Tartt. Major disappointment!

Edith' Diary by Patricia Highsmith (I enjoyed all books by her published BEEFORE "Edith' Diary" and not one that was published after).
She changed her style and I didn't like it.

message 27: by Kayla (new)

Kayla (kaylastonehouse) | 1 comments Recently, (and I know this will be an unpopular opinion) A Court of Mist and Fury! From a while ago, The Night Circus.

Lol at seeing The Cruel Prince multiple times. So popular but yes, it starts hella slow in the first book. Second book of the series gets much better and the third book is so good!

message 28: by Brianna (new)

Brianna (brithebookbabe) | 59 comments Layla... Colleen Hoover. I couldn't even finish.

message 29: by Judith Speed (last edited Aug 08, 2024 02:23PM) (new)

Judith Speed | 205 comments La Nausee by Jean Paul Sartre. What a pity he didn’t think it would be a good idea to include something vaguely resembling a plot.
Also Love in the Time of Cholera- boring, and the author had no problems with giving the main character paedophilia tendencies

Micaylah | 52 comments Shadow of the Wendigo by Dale T Phillips.

message 32: by Ethan (new)

Ethan Recently, Bad Summer People by Emma something. It was frustrating to read and unfulfilling. I don't know if it's the worst book I've ever read but it would be a contender.

message 33: by Naima (new)

Naima Embry | 10 comments Freewater. It was probably good but not my taste. It just took too long to get into and I never finished it.

message 34: by Laura (new)

Laura Jane | 26 comments I posted before but I wanted to add "Call of the Wild", they made us read it in middle school and it was just scarring. I'm sure it's all due to some metaphor about man and nature and yadda yadda that I'd understand now that it's been so long but I just remember it being a couple hundred pages of dogs being killed/killing each other.

message 35: by Maia (new)

Maia Matson (maiamatson) | 77 comments The Giver by Lois Lowry.
Hooked by Emily McIntyre.
The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren.

idk why but these three make the list. The Giver made gr6 me insanely uncomfortable when I had to read it for school. Hooked was plainly terrible. Lastly the Inhoneymooners committed too many crimes in the miscommunication and cheating department.

message 45: by becs (new)

becs | 178 comments probably the twisted series(shallow, terrible writing, literally no plot except for tasteless smut) and like 'they both die at the end' (bad writing but decent plot, I will say I devoured that book when I was a kid, and when I was first getting into YA so I had no standards)

message 46: by Siddharth (new)
