Sorry Maas fans but I absolutely love ACOTAR but the CC series just falls short of anything quite magical, personally. Bryce just does my head in.

Why should all good books revolve around a plot?

I couldn't get through James Joyce, neither Finnegans Wake nor Ulysses (I didn't try anything else). Perhaps I will revisit the latter, but won't bother with the former. It feels like an author's practical joke on readers. Or I am just dense.

I don't know if they were the worst, but definitely my least favourite so far this year. It was too "tropey", the characters and world-building just fell flat for me. Maybe I might have enjoyed this book as a teenager?

5hey don’t need to revolve around it, but it’s a reasonable idea for something to happen at some point.
