Truitt_T | 801 comments I can get through Master of Djinn next week - my other book for the Battle is short.

Like you, Karolyn, I really want to read it! I’m fine with whatever we do.

message 552: by Truitt_T (new)

Truitt_T | 801 comments So what are we going to offer them?

message 553: by Dale (new)

Dale | 377 comments For the battles do we read the books at the same time or is it we read one book finish and than they read and finish?

message 554: by Donna (new)

Donna (dkflynn33) | 2715 comments Ugh I am stuck using this stupid app. I will update when I can…

message 555: by Truitt_T (new)

Truitt_T | 801 comments We can read the books in any order, all of us simultaneously, which makes things much easier.

Dale | 377 comments Donna wrote: "Ugh I am stuck using this stupid app. I will update when I can…"

Maybe you the browser on your phone? I do that

Donna (dkflynn33) | 2715 comments I am worried more about the spreadsheet. They have been working on the internet. It was taken out during a storm and another storm is on the way,

Oh no :( stay safe ♡

message 560: by Karolyn (new)

Karolyn | 1041 comments Hey all! Work was nuts today so didn’t get to check in.

Stay safe in the storms Donna! Don’t stress about the spreadsheet - you can post here if you need us to update it or just wait till things settle down.

Unless anyone objects, I’ll send over Maters of Djinn for Tru since she really wants to read it anyway.

No objection from me!

Devann (devannm) | 2778 comments i havent really been keeping up with the mini challenges bc i've been having enough trouble trying to read period, much less for specific tasks, but if i'm understanding right it's all next week and we need to match the first and last three letters across titles? if that's the case the next book in a series i'm rereading is called madhouse so that leaves us with mad and use if anyone thinks they can do anything with that. i'll probably be reading it next week anyway so just let me know if it would fit in somewhere. i've read it like 20 times so i can really breeze through it on audio lol

message 563: by Tara (new)

Tara Peace | 240 comments Hi guys, I'm back!!! Left Yosemite this morning - went on an epic hike up Lembert Dome and to Dog Lake with my 7 yo and hubby. 5 miles round trip with a 1000 foot elevation gain~ I'm beat (in addition to 6 days/nights of camping in the Sierras), but so worth it!

I'll get back to working on keeping the spreadsheet up to date - thanks so much to Karolyn for carrying my weight this round! I'm here for the rest of it though!! xo💕

message 564: by Karolyn (new)

Karolyn | 1041 comments Welcome back Tara!!!! So happy you had a good trip and were able to unplug - even if your legs are screaming.

I was snooping and it looks like we’ll get BOR of MAN next if anyone wants to start looking. So far Dale, Donna, Tru, Angela and I have claimed books… so will try to give preference to someone who hasn’t read for the battle if we can. There will also be Round 3 😁

message 565: by Laura (new)

Laura | 5524 comments Attempts to replicate Karolyn's voice-over voice

You will, in fact, be getting MAN.

And now back to my regular Capitol voice.

We'll be reading The Innocent Man: Murder and Injustice in a Small Town.

message 566: by Angela (new)

Angela | 114 comments Welcome back Tara! Sounds like you had a great time and need a vacation from your vacation :)

message 567: by Karolyn (new)

Karolyn | 1041 comments Remember that subtitles are NOT included. So we are looking for a title starting with MAN

message 568: by Dale (new)

Dale | 377 comments Devann had one:)

message 569: by Karolyn (new)

Karolyn | 1041 comments I think Devan’s is MAD and we need MAN. So title starting with Man, Maniac, manifest, Manic, Manor, ect.

I’d like to try sending something over tonight if we can figure a book out - Saturday will be here quick. I’ll try to pop in later with some title ideas if y’all don’t beat me to it.

message 570: by Dale (new)

Dale | 377 comments Man hunt by vanessa vale

message 571: by Truitt_T (new)

Truitt_T | 801 comments Wow. MAN is a lot harder than I would have thought.

I have few in my tbr, but the letters are terrible. I'll keep looking.

message 572: by Angela (new)

Angela | 114 comments I can read The Manor House by Gilly Macmillan Not sure if USE are easy letters.

Laura | 5524 comments Truitt_T wrote: "Wow. MAN is a lot harder than I would have thought.

I didn't even look because I figured it would be easy!

message 574: by Laura (new)

Laura | 5524 comments If BOR would be better, we can switch our book without a problem.

message 575: by Sixty (new)

Sixty (sixtyone) | 311 comments I have a couple that I could read for MAN:

Manual of the Planes and
Manual of the Planes Expanded

but I don't think NES or DED are too friendly.

Truitt_T | 801 comments Laura wrote: "If BOR would be better, we can switch our book without a problem."

I though MAN was going to be easy, too! And it's really not so much that there aren't books, as there aren't titles that end in helpful letters.

So far we have:

Dale - Man Hunt - UNT
Angela - The Manor House - USE
SIxty - Manual of the Planes - NES
Sixty - Manual of the Planes Expanded - DED

Me:
Mammoths at the Gates - TES
The Man in the Dark - ARK
Manna from Hades - DES
Manny Overboard - ARD
Manny for Walker - KER
Manipulation - ION

And perhaps someone else could read:
Manhattan State of Mind - IND

Believe me, the other options I found had far worse letters!

I am not devoted to reading any of these - they're up for grabs.

Laura - do any of these appeal?

I actually wouldn't mind UNT. Those aren't bad letters.

message 578: by Donna (last edited Jun 20, 2024 06:29AM) (new)

Donna (dkflynn33) | 2715 comments Some other suggestions:

Manners and Monsters
The Manly Handbook
The Man With a Load of Mischief
Man of My Dreams
The Man She Married
Man in the Dark

Hmmm some of these letters might be hard like IED, OOK or AMS

Dale | 377 comments Guys dont forget its stuff your kindle day

https://www.romancebookworms.com/kind...

message 580: by Karolyn (new)

Karolyn | 1041 comments Wait you all want to narrow it down to 2-3 books… we can send them a couple options. Otherwise it will be tonight before I can do any more searching.

Dale | 377 comments Karolyn wrote: "Wait you all want to narrow it down to 2-3 books… we can send them a couple options. Otherwise it will be tonight before I can do any more searching."

If it makes it easier i can read the man hunt book

message 582: by Truitt_T (new)

Truitt_T | 801 comments Since we're going to run out of time if we don't speed things up, I'd say let Dale read Man Hunt, since Laura has indicated she likes UNT.

What we need to do, though, is make sure that for the next time around we have a list of our teammates who want to read for the Battle, and to be certain everyone knows to check in to claim a spot.

message 583: by Tara (new)

Tara Peace | 240 comments I’m down for battle next time for sure - being out of town for the end of last round and intro of the battle threw me!

message 590: by Tara (new)

Tara Peace | 240 comments Dale - we are still trying to figure out what is going on with your book counts from the mods. Karolyn and I have both posted about it. That being said, I know how to make sure it doesn't happen going forward, but we need them to adjust Round 1 as it is locked!

Promise we're working on it!

Just don't wear yourself out. I used to do the same thing. I have slowed down considerably. I used to read a whole lot more.

Jhmingos | 704 comments I feel bad I haven't been able to volunteer for the battle. A bunch of holds came in from the library and I really need to finish them. They're listed on the spreadsheet so if there's one that fits, I'll be happy to take one. Once I get through them though, I can be more flexible with my next reads.

Your fine :) there is always next round:)

message 596: by Laura (new)

Laura | 5524 comments Hello District 2! The Capitol will see your Man Hunt and make it Untraceable! I just found out that any books not picked before the start of the Battle won't count, so take your time, but not too much time!

(Just in case my weird sense of humor doesn't translate, we'll be reading Untraceable.)

Don't worry about it! We've been able to cover everything. I've just been concerned that everyone who might want to read for the Battle hasn't had a chance to.

I'm off to search for BLE.

message 598: by Truitt_T (new)

Truitt_T | 801 comments Ok - wow.

Not only is there nothing in my TBR (or on my Kindle) that starts with BLE, I have apparently not read a single book beginning with BLE since I've been on GR.

Let me go rummage around on amazon....

That's another one I didn't even search for because I thought it would be easy!
