Oh, The One is my go-to recommendation for people. Love it because it's got a little of everything (romance, mystery, sci-fi) and it's pretty fast-paced.

Jhmingos | 704 comments I thought I added it to the spreadsheet, but I finished East of Eden yesterday, before Round 2 ended. It's also been added to my shelf. Sorry about that!

Laura | 5524 comments The Capitol is firing another shot in the battle

This one will be The One

That's quite a recommendation, Lizzie!

I can read The One as well. So that's two for me, if needed.

Karolyn | 1041 comments I’ll send over Jhmingos with One by One by McFadden now - it’s next on my list. I’ll get an updated list of who’s up later today.

So, it's good? The Thriller tag is off-putting for me.

message 957: by Jhmingos (last edited Jul 15, 2024 12:19PM) (new)

Jhmingos | 704 comments I'm trying not to describe what happens but it's really a multi-genre book. The premise is sci-fi but there are some thriller and romance elements. You follow characters who are getting matched up with their soulmate through DNA and so it's different "love stories" with lots of twists.

Joanna Jones (joannajones) | 69 comments If you need another person for One by One, feel free to sign me up! I didn't read for the first battle and am happy to pitch in for Battle 2.

I updated my round 2 read and moved to round 3 as I definitely won't finish in time.

Truitt_T | 801 comments Captains -

What's our current status in terms of which Resources we need most?

Thanks!

message 960: by Karolyn (new)

Karolyn | 1041 comments End of Round 2 Totals

Here’s where we stand after the adjustments at the end of Round 2:

Weapons 4051
Shelter 3335
Food 3558
Defense 3712

So… a bit behind on Shelter and Food.

message 961: by Karolyn (new)

Karolyn | 1041 comments @Joanna - would you want to read One by One by aware or by McFadden.

Thanks!

message 962: by Laura (new)

Laura | 5524 comments Yoo hoo! Back from the Capitol

For our 7th shot, we'll be reading Freida, One by One.

message 963: by Laura (last edited Jul 15, 2024 06:18PM) (new)

Laura | 5524 comments Unless something completely unexpected happens, this will be our last One/One book. I'm 95% sure that our next book will come from one of my following options. So let me know what appeals most to you guys, assuming you still do One by One for your next/7th book.

One True Loves
One Young Fool in South Africa
One Young Fool in Dorset
One Small Thing
One Shot
One Poison Pie
One Day Like This

message 964: by Karolyn (new)

Karolyn | 1041 comments When Joanna chimes in with which author she wants to read for One By One, I’ll send that over next.

Then any preference what we’d want back? Sounds like they might be done with “one”.

message 965: by Truitt_T (new)

Truitt_T | 801 comments Hmmm....

I've got two for the above:

One Shot - Hot as Heller
One Day Like This - His Bloody Project: Documents Relating to the Case of Roderick Macrae

I can read either of these (they work for another challenge) although I'm not particulary excited about them, lol. I'm not certain that either LER or ECT are the easiest of letters.....

I can look more later, if need be.

Sure thing! Put me down for One by One by Freida McFadden .

And..because I'm a bit lost on how the battle works, let me know when I can start and when I need to finish by. Thanks teams!

Sure, I was going to start with Ruth Ware's One by One, but that is a re-read for me. So if you want to take that one, happy to give you that slot.

Also wanted to resend this post in case it was missed. It's worth about 62 points, so I wanted to make sure we can count this.

They had locked the sheet before it was added - I will check and see if they can go in and add it for us.

Perfect - I've switched us out!

message 973: by Karolyn (new)

Karolyn | 1041 comments Hi all! I just sent Joanna’s One by One over to the Capital. Let’s see what we get back.

As a reminder, all battle books need to be started and finished during Week 2 (the 22nd to 28th). We’ll be sure to post when it’s good to start them!

message 975: by Laura (new)

Laura | 5524 comments The Capitol, shot 8 will be Freida.

One by One

message 976: by Karolyn (new)

Karolyn | 1041 comments OMG!!! The chain continues!

I’ll sent over Tru’s One Night Alone next

message 977: by Karolyn (new)

Karolyn | 1041 comments I’m not sure we’ll get another “one” back… but if so, this is who I have for the last 2 rounds.

Tara (Ruth Ware)
Angela (Ruth Ware)

If we get something other than “one” we can plot as a team, of course.

One Young Fool in Dorset
One Small Thing
One Shot
One Poison Pie
One Day Like This
One Dark Window

I feel like hot or his might be easier to find books for..

message 980: by Karolyn (new)

Karolyn | 1041 comments Tru posted yesterday some options for “his” and “hot”. I’d tend to agree those are the easiest - for you romance readers!

message 981: by Karolyn (new)

Karolyn | 1041 comments @laura - give us an hour or so to see if anyone else chimes in on preference. I’ll plan to drop something in your team thread before I head off to sleep.

I took Jhmingos Ruth Ware spot! So we still need 2 readers for the final 2 books!

message 984: by Karolyn (new)

Karolyn | 1041 comments Ok, then it would be Angela followed by Dale for the last two.

But… the Capital might need to change things up since they don’t have another volunteer for “one” right now. If that’s the case we’ll have to look at options and who can get what.

I’ll let the Capital know we’d prefer “his” or “hot” on the next turn unless y’all have other ideas.

Sadly, we're looking for letters other than ONE for the Battle, now. I'd really hoped we could make it through on ONE!

HIS and HOT are definitely the easier choices. The two I posted earlier will be virtually impossible for the other team to find.

I could read:
His Realm
or
His Leading Man.

I'd really prefer His Realm, which gives the most likely option of Almost.

Dale, so you have any?

message 986: by Karolyn (new)

Karolyn | 1041 comments The only thing on my TBR with decent end letters is The Hot Zone: The Terrifying True Story of the Origins of the Ebola Virus (ignore the subtitle). I really don’t want to claim a second battle book, but will toss it out as an option.

His curvey friend by mary thompson

It should be - let me know if something is missing!

message 996: by Angela (new)

Angela | 114 comments It looks like only Dale and Tru submitted possible 'his' options. Should we just send them to the Capitol and let them decide like they just did for us?

Karolyn | 1041 comments Hey all! Sorry I haven’t been on today. I was/am in the 7th ring of travel hell today 🤬
