Angela | 114 comments I figured that might be the case Tru, and I also forgot to take the last three letters in account that it might be difficult to start with ark, unless the title could start with Dark. Still not entirely clear on the rules.

Example title: going back to the start

The next book title needs to start with art for a point
So the next book could be this : art of mine

message 408: by Truitt_T (new)

Truitt_T | 801 comments Using Dale’s example, the first word could also be TART or START. We just score better if it’s three letters.

Truitt_T | 801 comments Nice! And it even ends in END - which seems doable.

I can’t really look until I’m home either, and I just found out I’m working later than planned…..

I can volunteer again :)

Truitt_T | 801 comments My only option is An Indigenous Peoples' History of the United States (I recently read a book beginning with Wind, of course).

While I hadn't thought to read it this month, I'm willing if that's the way we want to go.

I think the caps are.. i can make an updated post tomorrow about the books:)

message 428: by Angela (new)

Angela | 114 comments I actually have a busier day today then I had planned, so I would be really grateful if someone could read for CORNUPIA. I could get it done but since the offer is out there that would mean I don't have to stress ;)

No problem! I started a book I've been meaning to get to for a while last night, and it works for CORNUPIA. I'll have it finished this evening. I love an excuse to read on my off day. :)

I hope you're day is easier than expected - and not at all stressful.

i made a post about the books for the arena task =]

message 432: by Angela (new)

Angela | 114 comments Thanks Tru!! Appreciate it greatly.
It has been cicada central over here so I have been avoiding doing any yard work. We have some really hot weather coming our way (mid 90's) for about a week, so I wanted to get out there and get that completed before the temps rise.
I also thought we had all day Saturday to complete this round and I realized early this morning that is not the case.
Thanks Dale for the arena task post :)

Karolyn | 1041 comments Just popping in, going to start some spreadsheet work soon.

Yes, the battle books are on the official spreadsheet, I'm going to also list them at the very top of the Round 2 tab in our working file - whomever is reading the book will just need to fill in the page count and the date finished.

Tru - thanks for picking up the cornucopia task. If anything comes up, Ive has a book (A Pucking Wrong Christmas) that we can use for it as well. Sorry I didn't get her stuff moved over yesterday.

And... subtitles are a no for the battle books.

message 436: by Karolyn (new)

Karolyn | 1041 comments I also let the Capitol know that we'll do Indie Brothers Best Friend (Dale) for the next battle book. I also gave them the one Tru had in case they like it better.

Tru - Indigenous History of the United States looks good, you'll have to let me know how you like it!!

The scourge of the cicadas is pretty much over for us, but it was wild while it lasted!

@Karolyn I just finished and logged an orange cover book (exactly 82% per Tineye) if we need it.
Also - is there any logistical advantage to finishing extra books before the end of the Round, aside from what's needed for the Mini? Or should I hold off for Round 2?

And thanks for the info re: subtitles - that definitely makes a difference. :)

It's supposed to be excellent - it picked up and American Book Award. I doubt it's going to be easy reading, though.

Fantastic! And good question about finishing in Round 1 vs holding to Round 2. We have no idea what's in store for us so I don't have a strong feeling one way or another. I don't think there would be harm in holding off finishing something.

I have not totaled how many of each resource type we have right now. Does anyone have idea on what ratio of resources we want to target? Meaning... ideally 25% in each category? Do we want to have more food or weapons or whatever? I don't know what strategy is best since we have no idea what's coming!

message 440: by Donna (new)

Donna (dkflynn33) | 2715 comments Just curious... In the main SS, there is a section about BOM Participation tokens. Do you want us to be tracking that?

Karolyn -

I think what we choose allocate points depends on on how we're doing compare to other teams. I know not evrything has been added to the official / Captains' spreadsheet, but if we're a lower ranking team, I lean toward prioritizing defense, food, shelter, and weapons, in that order. I don't think we allocate points evenly, I doubt we can stack up to the teams above us.

If we're higher up in the rankings, that changes how I feel about it.

Does this make sense? Should we even be discussing this on an open thread, lol?

message 442: by Dale (new)

Dale | 377 comments Do we need another cornupia book?

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 6535 comments Hmmmm, sorry all, I see that the third book we sent to you has not automatically went to your team spreadsheet.

It is showing correctly on mine - you may need to add it manually when you add to your Round 1 on your spreadsheet so it shows up for you.

Please see the post here for the book sent

Our SS shows it sent -- https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...

Karolyn | 1041 comments Thanks Erin! Just left a note in your District. I’ll check on the formulas and if worse comes to worse I can just overwrite it (maybe??).

Sorry to bother!

message 445: by Karolyn (new)

Karolyn | 1041 comments Ive’s books are added to our spreadsheet. If anyone is exceptionally board and wants to look at some of them to see what resource categories they fit - I would be grateful ☺️

I’ll slowly be plugging away at them after dinner.

message 446: by Karolyn (new)

Karolyn | 1041 comments Alisha Can you please put Unmask Alice on your Challenge shelf? Thanks 😁

message 447: by Karolyn (new)

Karolyn | 1041 comments Tru My best guess is we’ll be in the middle of the pack after round 1. And to your other question, no private groups for this challenge 😁

Please post here when you finish your last book of the round.

For our supply piles we can protect Weapons and Defense (those are the only two options we have for protection). Will take any advice on targets for each resource categories. Right now they’re pretty evenly divided, but we’re a little light on Defense and highest on Shelter.

message 448: by Truitt_T (new)

Truitt_T | 801 comments I just finished my CORNUPIA book, which should be my last book for Round 1. Dale, I think your food on cover book is the last one for the Mini - woohoo!

*****Note to everyone***** Karolyn is being too nice to mention it, but there are a lot of books on the Round 1 tab that are marked as completed, but don't have any Resource info. Let's not make poor Karolyn stay up all night trying to figure it out!

And on that note, I have a few more things to do in the kitchen (I cook a lot on my days off), but then I try to give you a hand figuring out Resources for Ive's books. We need those points!
