Ugh, I never got around to updating my Autumn personal challenge and now I'm too lazy. Takes too long to go back through all my "read" books and add them in. I read books, I just did not update here.

Need to figure out what I want to do here next.

I really dropped off the reading wagon this month, but I'm surprisingly eager to start again tomorrow! 😁

Yeah, that's my hope, lol. And I guess my intention! I'm in a bad reading slump right now, though :(

Hoping to start something cute tonight to lift my reading mood to kick me back into gear for 2025! Thanks for stopping by Sammy! :D

Sometimes I think I like planning my tasks and putting cute pics in here rather than updating with my actual results, lol.

It just feels like updating can be so tedious and cumbersome. I use assorted tracking methods but just have a hard time making it a point to get here and update things.

I have a question? Why have you never applied to be a moderator? You look like you might have the ideas.

Thanks for the question, Donna! I used to moderate AMMP and Game Night for years, years ago, and loved doing both, but it can be so time consuming and mentally taxing and I'm not sure I am capable of the commitment at the moment. I definitely considered applying this time, though! Believe me, part of me wants to! I miss all of the creativity and challenge creating, but my time is so limited that I hate to fall into the black hole of challenge creating and never having time to read, along with my other interests and hobbies. (And my dumb job that takes up 40 hours a week).

I did wonder about the admin moderator position and how time consuming that might be... :D

Aww, we just filled that position. I would like to let you know that we don't run things like AMMP & Game Night. I know because I was a mod there until recently myself. We are not on a set schedule like that. Each mod determines when their challenges run. RL comes first here. I don't want anyone wearing out if they can step back and take a break. Amanda was only running one yearly challenge (Road Trip - she didn't run it this year) and The Name Game. Other mods like Ashley or Michelle prefer to run multiple things at once. We prefer the laid-back approach. I really think you would fit in with our group.

Thanks for the info! I am intrigued 🤓

2025 Books for "Just Another Chapter" (RL book club)

My book club was founded by myself and my friend, Jackie. It consists of 8 women who are all friends (with Jackie currently inactive). We are laidback and do not require people to read the books in order to participate in the discussions. Most of us do not mind spoilers and sometimes the discussions are so rich and thoughtful that my dislike of a book can change if someone else makes a good argument for it!

At the end of the year, we each choose what month(s) we'd like to represent for the next year. We try to plan our books a few months out to account for library holds. Each person chooses 3 books to put to a vote to determine the monthly selection. We will read any genre! There are no rules.

*January (Brittany): River Woman, River Demon by Jennifer Givhan - READ and discussed
*February (Christina): The Wisteria Society of Lady Scoundrels (Dangerous Damsels, #1) by India Holton - READ and discussed
*March (Summer): The Chosen and the Beautiful by Nghi Vo - READ and discussed
*April (Melissa): The Shadow of the Wind (The Cemetery of Forgotten Books, #1) by Carlos Ruiz Zafón - Did not read (discussion moved to May). May read in the future.
*May (Kelly): How to Kill Men and Get Away With It (Kitty Collins, #1) by Katy Brent (Currently Reading) - DNF but did discuss (will go back and read it later)
*June (Me): Shutter (Rita Todacheene #1) by Ramona Emerson - Read and discussed (Discussion moved to July)
*July (Michelle): The Sunbearer Trials (The Sunbearer Duology, #1) by Aiden Thomas - DNF. Could not get into this, but we had a great discussion about it, along with the pre-teen/teen daughters of the book clubber who chose the book. I wish I liked it more! Might try the second book in the duology, as it sounds more appealing
*August (Brittany): Nod by Adrian Barnes (TBR) - not feeling this genre/premise at all right now, but will give it a fair shot soon
*September (Melissa): Ninth House (Alex Stern, #1) by Leigh Bardugo (TBR)
*October (Christina): Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil by V.E. Schwab . Not interested. I read the sample and did not care for it. Will of course participate in the discussion to see what others though, and also because it's fun.
*November (Summer): A Broken Blade (The Halfling Saga, #1) by Melissa Blair (TBR). Not my choice of the 3 that were nominated, but I'll give it a shot. Not my favorite trope.
*December: Free-for-all. Everyone chooses whatever book they want, sometimes with a theme. We have not discussed a theme yet, but it tends to be something winter-y, or Christmas/New Year's holiday.

3rd Quarter Update!

Still reading. Looks like my reading this quarter has slowed a bit compared to quarters 1 and 2. I believe this is because during quarter 2, I was in a fun team challenge where I read quite a few large books and I think I needed to decompress from that.

I'd like to be reading more than I have this summer, but work has been hectic and weekends have been preoccupied with other things.

July I read 9 books. So far in August, I've finished 1 but I'm reading about 3 other books and hope to finish two of them today.

I should plan my September books/goals!
