Sell me on a book you love.

I loved The Travelling Cat Chronicles, a short novel from a Japanese author, told from the perspective of the cat, as he is taken along on visits to various old friends of his human roommate. I was drawn to the quaint simplicity of the novel's premise--I've had good luck with Japanese novels involving cats--but I wasn't entirely emotionally prepared for what was actually going on in this book. Moving, gentle, feline, knowing.

I would love to know if you’ve read “Dominion” by Tom Holland. I found it very interesting as a way to view western history without excluding the tremendous influence of Christianity. He’s a brilliant historian who writes like David Zimmerman does: thoughtfully and clearly.
