I used to send books, like the one above, to support to fix.
(Audible audio with what looks like an ISBN10 entered as an ASIN.)
But now that ASINs can no longer be edited should these types of errors just be ignored since they can't be fixed? I don't want to waste my time or support's time by submitting items where nothing can be done.
Please advise.

Audible sometimes assigns an ISBN to their audiobooks and not an Amazon ASIN. That Audible edition can be found here > https://www.audible.com/pd/The-Book-o... and if you look at the url you'll see the ISBN 10 as the identifier.

I came across this issue about 5 years ago when I was adding audio editions for members of my group who were Audible subscribers. I contacted support at the time and was told to use the ISBN 10 in the ASIN field because Audible didn't assign an internal Amazon ID. This allowed the member to shelve the exact book ID & format they owned/listened to while still allowing the ISBN 13 to be used on the Audiobook format available from non-Amazon sites. The GR librarian moderator however, instructed librarians to treat those Audible editions as Audiobooks instead despite being Audible format. With conflicting instructions I stopped adding Audible editions from the Audible dot com website completely. Most of the Audible subscribers I knew only used the Audible site, not the Amazon one and were very irritated that they couldn't get the edition they owned added to GR with the ID that matched up with their Audible library.

Hi Edwina. It looks like the edition with the Amazon ASIN is also on Goodreads, so there are two duplicate records:

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5...
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5...

Support can merge the ISBN10 edition into the ASIN version, and then add the ISBN10 into the relevant field.

In other cases where the ASIN edition has not been added, Support can add it and then merge as above, as long as there is evidence that the ISBN10 edition and the ASIN edition are the same.

What is to be done about ACEs that were created but the ASIN wasn't moved to the new edition?

ACE

Old Cover with ASIN

Hi Edwina

Experts or Librarians can create a new ACE to move the ASIN, then merge the duplicate editions.

Edwina, I agree there are many ACE editions that have been created incorrectly by both Librarians and regular members, but in this case the editions are from the time before the current ASIN rule. Back then the rule was the ASIN should remain with the original record. So it was correctly handled per the rules at the time.

Edit: I tweaked the publication dates using data found in the edit changelogs to reflect the date each of the two editions were published.
