Great choices Mamacita. I'm long overdue to get to The Heiress Bride and the other heiress book is a perfect choice to go with it. Thank you!

Yay! I'm happy to hear that! Thistlefoot intrigues me. I may have to put it on the TBR (like that needs more books added to it, lol).

Artificial Condition (The Murderbot Diaries, #2) by Martha Wells

Book - Artificial Condition
Author - Martha Wells
Date Read - 5/2/24
Rating - 2 stars
Review - Ummmm...Did I read the same book as everyone else? Or maybe I just have bad taste, which is entirely possible. If you met me in RL, you would say I'm a bit odd. I'm normally not interested in things that most people are. So yeah, you could question my taste in books. Don't worry, I won't be offended. Seriously though, this was boring AF. The 1st one in the series was pretty cool and I did enjoy it, but this one had me wondering when it was going to get good. I had high hopes, but sadly the action was lacking in this one. I'll try again and see what happens with # 3.

This happens to me quite frequently too. I'm beginning to think most readers don't care about the writing so much as the entertainment and tropes, or friends and fans are upvoting. Many books I've read are rated 4.5 stars and I will give them twos or threes. So we're definitely not reading the same books because I spot every problem *shrug*

Honey Mead Murder (Honey Bear Cosy Mysteries #1) by Dahlia Donovan
Rating: 3 Stars
Review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
It was okay. I found the writing telling rather than showing which didn't draw me deeply into the characters or story. More dialogue than action. I won't continue the series unless the other books are free.

Learning Curve (Franklin U, #6) by N.R. Walker
Rating: 4 Stars
Review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Super fluffy and cute. I enjoyed the first half more than the second half. The first half was the characters learning about each the other. The second half was mostly sex and it slowed the story down and wasn't as interesting.

This was an okay installment of the series but Clare really got on my nerves this book. She came off as a know-it-all, very judgemental and preachy to me. Many of the reviews complained about her daughter Joy, but she was barely in the book and seemed to be acting like a normal 20-year-old to me. Since I own almost the whole series I hope Clare lightens up a bit (she seemed to at the end of the book) because I love the idea of the series.

Stormie ~ My Sweet Little Book Dragon,

Thank you, thank you, thank you for picking American Prince. I haven't read the other book but...

5* good. I did have to reread the first book cuz I couldn't remember anything that was going on. But I'm not stopping there now I have to read the next book. This was so good and if you have not read this series get on it!! ❤️🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

message 72: by Marty (new)

Marty (martymill) | 1300 comments Sigh. I was only partially successful this month. I finished The Flame Throwers by Rachel Kushner which was a disappointment. I was hoping it would be more fast paced and explore the mid-70's NY art scene more. Nope, just a few famous names thrown about for window dressing. None of the characters were particularly sympathetic. It picked up in the final quarter of the book, but that didn't save it. Gave it three stars because the author wasn't a bad writer.

I DNF'd Great Maria by Cecelia Holland , I just couldn't get into it.

I've barely picked up The Man Who Made Vermeers Unvarnishing the Legend of Master Forger Han van Meegeren by Jonathan Lopez . I'll finish it later this summer.
