Saoirse Island is separate community that tolerates the tourists that come to pick from the orchard and enjoy the "quaint" witchiness of tea readings, herbal apothecaries and other more traditional ways of life but the residents of Saoirse know that the island holds a bit more than what those who day trip see. Emery and August are inseparable beyond the usual first love usually traveling in a pack of 4 friends. When a night of violence on the island breaks up the group, August ends up leaving the island and Emery staying with the consequences. When August's mom requires him to return as a last wish, those on the island are not happy to see him at all as old secrets are brought to light.

The insular island community is an interesting one. I liked Emery and her trying to sort out her feelings and relationships to those on the island and August. It was a bit overwritten for me but kept my attention to uncover the secrets. The island was the best part.
