I was wondering, how do you choose the book you'll read when you have a huge tbr?
I think I forgot why I added some books to my tbr and now I never know what to read

I scroll on Instagram , and most of the times I find what to read from there . if not Instagram then Goodreads itself.

ahh... I also sometimes forget why I added them. I usually pick like 4 books that "call" for me, as odd as that sounds. I read their blurbs again and see a couple of reviews. And it truly depends on my mood, usually I also ask my partner to pick simply so I would discover what I really want to read lol. I often go with something else because someone making that choice kinda make me realise what I am "drawn" to the most.
Though I am a fast reader usually, so I would get to these other books soon enough.

I put my TBR into little balls that go in one of those mini claw machines. i spend about 3 minutes trying to grab one for my next read.

I think about what mood I'm in and scroll throw my Tbr, choose the first book I see that fits that.

i get my books from the library and i read what i want to read the most first then gradually read the ones that are due soon

when i get them from the library i read whatever is due the soonest first. then i read whatever i am most interested in.

as for my owned tbr they usually get pushed to the side for a bit while i have library books, especially if someone puts a hold on the book behind me. but whenever i do read one i own it's usually bc i am most interested in it at the time.

i dont rlly have a method for choosing which book though

I read e-books. I let the library software Calibre on my laptop randomly select a book for me.

I have my husband pick for me. He only reads manga, not books, so I will show him my TBR and literally have him judge them by their covers and pick one. It works about 90% of the time lol

I am in a book group on FB and I read their recommendations. I am reading Iron Flame by Rebecca Yarros now and before that it was Six Crimson Cranes by Elizabeth Lim. Excellent suggestions from regular readers like me. Can't wait to finish the Between Earth and Sky Series by Rebecca Roanhorse and Realm Breaker Series by Victoria Aveyard.

Lately it's just me finishing my book and then I just go to my friends. My friends go through my "Want to read" in my Goodreads so if they have a book they just give it to me lol. I'm currently holding some of their books hostage as I finish the book one of them gave me. Then giving it back as they go look for more books I wanna read even though I have like five of them already.

I go through my friends reviews on Goodreads until something strikes, and of course when I’m being cheap I troll Kindle Unlimited.

It’s all about the vibes for me 😂
- I’ve read the blurb: am I in the mood for this now
— similarly: have I read snippets/spoilers from TikTok or insta, do I want to keep reading
- do I like other books by the author, or are they new to me
- do I like the cover (yes, I judge a cover) 😭

Granted, I go through this checklist pretty mindlessly… but if I broke down the process, this is what it would be

I pick based on the cover or titles, if I start the book and I'm not feeling it I pick another one.

It will have a cool or pretty title or cover

I have many way to determine my next book
~Sometimes I just go to Barns & Noble, and I just buy what looks good.
~My friends recommend a book to me, and they also let me borrow it.
~Go to Libby, and scroll, and scroll, and scroll, until something pops up. Then I add it to my TBR, and I wait, and wait, and wait until I can get my hands on.
~My friend gives me a whole bunch of books, then I read at my own pace.
So the main point is that, I just read what ever is available first, and if I don’t have a physical book, then I borrow something from an online library.
I also ask my friends what book sounds better, and they chose for me. I also physically and mentally can’t read books in a single series in one go, there has to be at least two to three book gap in between reads of the same series.

Honestly I just pick what book genre I wanna read

I´ve made choosing next read a whole exciting game for myself haha. I´m using the shelves I´ve created in Goodreads. So I have a list of 30 books from which the next read will be coming from (I choose random selection so it´s randomly given to me). Then to replace that book in that shelf I have my tbr books categorized in different shelves (in fairness I only have 2) and I use the random selection on them again and just pick whichever I´d prefer to add into the 30 shelf raffle. So fun 😂

I'm very much a mood reader, but if I have no clue I just scroll through my tbr shelf and see if any title catches my eyes then I read the synopsis. If I still have no clue I try to read a little bit of a few different books, like for example a chapter or two.

Usually, i ask my friends.
I send them books that i consider to read and let them pick 1 or 3 an then i read them.
But most of the time, i just randomly chose a book, depending the genre i crave for at the moment

Normally I can tell what I want to read based on what i've read in the past, rather it be a standalone or a series. Or I'll ask friends, or look on here. If I am really desperate I will go to a store in stand in the book aisle reading every book till I find the one I want to read.

i mostly scroll on Instagram, there are a lot of people who uploaded good recommendations... and also reddit Bookclub helps...

I have a spin the wheel app on my phone lol. I made 3 genres (Fantasy, Romance, Thriller/Horror) - and added all the books I have in their appropriate genre. When I finish a book, I choose a different genre from the one I just finished and spin the wheel :)

I've tried making a random picker for my TBR but I always end up ditching those and reading whatever I feel like lol, or if my friend wants to read the same book as me we will just buddy read it!

I either scroll through my Goodreads tbr and choose which one seems the most appealing atm or scroll through whatever app I’m using and whichever cover/blurb seems the most interesting

I usually pick 3-5 that I like the cover of and then I let my husband read the backs and decide which one I should read next. takes the pressure off deciding and it's fun to fill him in on what's going on in the book he's chosen?

I'm currently reading through the Riordanverse, so I haven't had to worry about that for a while. When I have had to decide, I just posted a poll in a book Discord server I'm in and let the people decide.

I pick my book using a spin the wheel website and add the names of the book and whatever it lands on I read it.

it depends on my mood.

For me i usually base it on what i just finished reading. For example if i just finished a dark romance i try to go for something more light hearted to take a break. Or if i finished something in fantasy i try to go for something more contemporary. Either way my TBR is almost always full because i always end up reading something tiktok recommends 😂

Simple, go to book section of store or shelf

Like no joke bc I saw a book that was HARDBACK (I'm a floppy lover) but it had shiny purple pages and a pretty color so I bought it.

I have a list and I let my mood choose the book!

For me it either goes one of two ways:

Picking out a random handful, re-read their summaries, see how I feel about it and go from there OR my emotional state after finishing the last book.

There is no in between.

Step 1) I look at my tbr
Step 2) Ignore all the books on it
Step 3) Go scour the Internet and goodreads for a book that matches my mood and the exact tropes I want

I switch off from something on my kindle to an actual book. Sometimes if I’m feeling like I’m gunna be in a slump I’ll try to find one that has a good audio.

Even if my TBR is crazy, if there is one book that’s newer I’m dying to read and maybe just was published, I just go for it. No guilt! You wanna dive in.

Otherwise, since I mainly read Romantacy/fantasy or Romcom, I’ll flip flop. I finished a 600 page fantasy that was amazing but so my brain was actually tired! So I pick a few quick 280-300 page light reads and give myself a break.

In terms of the actual book. I poke through a lot of good reads and cross reference reviews with sometimes even Amazon and if I can find it on booktok. But sometimes I just go with my gut!

I have so many books I haven't read just sitting on shelves and in my Kindle. I usually just open one that fits my mood and if the first chapter grabs me, I'm in it for the long haul. And by long haul, I mean, I'll read every book in the series until I'm lost again with nothing to read. Rinse and repeat.

I go to my TBR shelf, mentally select 4 books, and tell my fiancé to pick a number between 1-4 then read that book!

usually just the next one on the table lol😭 and since i now read on my kindle then the next one that appears on my library😅
