Ashray Jha | 2 comments Hi Everyone! My name is Ashray Jha and I have just published my first book So you want to be a Superinvestor? Being a first time author, I feel like writing the book was the easy part and marketing is the hard part. Every book that I have read on the subject of marketing and getting reviews says I need to be on goodreads but does not say how to effectively market your book and get reviews on goodreads I would love to start a discussion where people can share their best practices for using goodreads and getting reviews for your book.

Scott Sargent | 2 comments Hi Ashray,
I've gotten a few reviews from friends on GR, people I don't actually know. If I noticed someone was reading a book I knew, I would comment and strike up a conversation about it-esp. if it was a book similar to mine. Later when my book was finished, I sent them a message to let them know. A few people bought it and left reviews.

But I'm not sure this is really marketing. I did it because I was interested in their thoughts on the books they were reading. I would guess it was a lot of time invested for each review. Not very effective as a marketing effort.

You may want to check out the Review Group on GR. It's a group that arranges for reviews of your book in exchange for you reviewing other books. It is not a review swap, and they go to great lengths to keep everything above board and within Amazon and GR policies.
