The Lost Duke of Wyndham by Julia Quinn
The Lost Duke of Wyndham (Two Dukes of Wyndham, #1) by Julia Quinn

Synopsis:

Jack Audley has been a highwayman. A soldier. And he has always been a rogue. What he is not, and never wanted to be, is a peer of the realm, responsible for an ancient heritage and the livelihood of hundreds. But when he is recognized as the long-lost son of the House of Wyndham, his carefree life is over. And if his birth proves to be legitimate, then he will find himself with the one title he never wanted: Duke of Wyndham.

Grace Eversleigh has spent the last five years toiling as the companion to the dowager Duchess of Wyndham. It is a thankless job, with very little break from the routine... until Jack Audley lands in her life, all rakish smiles and debonair charm. He is not a man who takes no for an answer, and when she is in his arms, she's not a woman who wants to say no. But if he is the true duke, then he is the one man she can never have...

I've already read this one so I will not join you on this reading

Merry (jewelhound) | 856 comments Sandra, It was an ok read for me. But most have loved it.

Mariana | 2692 comments This is not a Julia Quinn book I had on my to read list. However, Reforming Lord Ragsdale is going to be finished quickly; so I think I will read this book in June also.

I've read all Julia's Quinn books in a row... back when I've started these genre.

Jan (jan130) | 2673 comments I have this one reserved at my local library, but will have to wait till it comes in to borrow it.

Lauren | 1392 comments This is one of the few JQ books I haven't read. I'm hoping to start this book tomorrow.

Mariana | 2692 comments I read the first two chapters. I enjoyed the character introductions, but it wasn't hard to put it down.

Mariana | 2692 comments I am now through chapter 6. It's picking up. I especially enjoyed chapter 5 after (view spoiler)

Merry (jewelhound) | 856 comments Mariana, I thought that was one of the best scenes out of the book.

I really enjoyed this. Jack and Grace were great characters. I am keen to read the next book, but a review I read said they were not best read back to back....so to my TBR list it goes.

It certainly was a good one, but I hope there are a few more to come.

Mariana | 2692 comments I'm through chapter 10. This book is amusing. I want to keep reading it, but it's not addictive. I don't mind spreading it over many days. Just okay for me so far.

Olivia Elliott (oliviaelliottromance) | 80 comments This was an enjoyable read. I liked the highwayman angle and especially the humour.

Jan (jan130) | 2673 comments OK this finally came in at the library and I've started it today. Better late than never LOL. Looks promising so far. Already some light humour I'm enjoying.

Mariana | 2692 comments Glad you're enjoying so far!

Jan (jan130) | 2673 comments I finished this today and gave three stars for an okay read. For me there were too many unbelievable aspects to the story, and I just couldn't really get on board with the whole (view spoiler) thing.

It also dragged a bit in the middle, and I did a bit of skimming. Oh well. Julia Quinn's books are hit-or-miss for me, and this one isn't a fav. I did finish it though :)

Merry (jewelhound) | 856 comments Jan, I agree with you. This was my first Quinn book and it was ok. I am not rushing out to get another at this point. Plus this is the book I mixed up months and read early

message 21: by Mariana (new)

Mariana | 2692 comments I also agree. It's not holding my interest. I haven't even finished yet - may have to skim to do so.

Well, I broke down and read the second book despite your warning to give it time. It definitely did not live up to the first (for me anyway). On the one hand, I knew it would be the same story told from a different perspective. On the other hand, it was the SAME story told from a different perspective--ha, ha!

Also, the big sex scene was not my cup of tea. (view spoiler)
