LeAndra Are LGBT+ bookstores even a thing anymore? I’m considering opening one in my town. I’d be interested to know if the phrase, “If you build it, they will come” is relevant. 🤔

Jen (_jen_in_den_) | 9 comments There is at least one in Denver. It’s newer and they have a lot of events (including yoga) to bring in the community. Petals and Pages

Joseph | 47 comments I was visiting Glasgow last week and found a bookstore called "Category is Books". It was very cosy, with many different categories, fiction and non-fiction, graphic novels and comics. I would wholeheartedly recommend visiting if you happen to be in Glasgow!

Cass (casall) | 1 comments There's one or two in Chicago but they're getting more and more rare 😕

Tehnehn Kaijaah Edwards (tehnoutoftenwouldrecommend) | 36 comments Although not just LGBTQ+! It is queer owned, and offers a safe space for marginalized people in the rural community. Sheridan, WY has Calamity Books! It's a fantastic used book store that does special orders, sells pride pins and other pride things, geek pins, handmade candles, witchy stuff and more.

robin✨allthethingssheread | 10 comments I make a point to look up queer bookstores everywhere I go so I can drop by! I found out my city has the only queer bookstore in Scotland (called Category is Books) and even though it's quite far I try to go regularly.

message 13: by Clare (new)

Clare Ingersoll | 2 comments Red Emma's in Baltimore is a radical bookstore that isn't specifically queer, but has an amazing selection. Atomic Books is another Baltimore-based bookstore with queer and erotica selections.

message 14: by Troy (new)

Troy Ford | 11 comments Oh, I hope they never go away!!!

There's Fabulosa Books in the Castro/SF - it used to be called something else, I can't remember what - but looks like new ownership? (Haven't actually lived in SF in 20+ years, but fond memories...)
