⭒June 2024 BOTM Nominations⭒

This is suspenseful, YA Christian fiction, involving a long-lost treasure, a deadly chase, and a magnificent beast of legends. Blending historical fact and Scottish legend within an action-packed adventure, Treasures of the Lochs is an exciting, powerful story of faith, friendship and redemption. It was published last September and has over 130 ratings. I hope you'll consider it.

Kiss of Deception might have some questionable content. I remember having content issues with that series, though I do not remember the specifics of that particular book.
I nominate The Princess and Curdie by George MacDonald.
I've read this book about three times before and it never gets old!

Yeah, I know I def had some content issues with book 2. I'm trying to remember book 1. I believe there's a part where she runs into one of the love interests when she's not wearing much, if you will, and not sure how much this affects it's being allowed, but (view spoiler)

Thanks for the info, Bella! I definitely know book 3 is beyond our standards. In my review of Kiss of Deception, I mentioned crude language, but I cannot remember what I meant by that. I would imagine it's sexual in nature.
Maybe Kiss of Deception would be better as a buddy-read than BotM.

I nominate the Spice King"
We're supposed to do only fantasy, with some allowances for sci-fi, dystopian, and fairytale retellings. Not historical fiction.

Hi!
Bella is correct. Our BotMs are limited to Fantasy and the subgenres she mentioned.
However, you can request a buddy read for those books here:
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
(I am going to delete your nomination post just so no one accidentally seconds one of them.)

I nominate Dragon's Green by Scarlett Thomas.

I second Mortal Queens"
Hey, are you a member of Timeless Pages? It's a group Bets and Books'N'Crannies started, and it's all historical. You could nominate these for BOTM over there. :)

The Way of Kings
The Traitor's Game
Our Divine Mischief
And nominate Tress of the Emerald Sea

I might consider that one, but I don't think I'll be able to read it. Unless it's available on Hoopla. It's probably not, but I can check.

Please follow the guidelines below when nominating.
1) You are allowed to nominate a maximum of 3 books for each month's BotM.
2) If someone has already nominated a book that you wanted to nominate, please second it! I will only be picking the top 3-6 books to vote on in the final poll, so the more total seconds a book has, the more likely it will be selected for the poll.
3) If you want to nominate books *and* second books, you need to make sure you do not exceed 6 in total AND that you nominate no more than 3. For example:
• If you nominate 3 books, you can only second 3 books.
• If you do not nominate any books, you can second 6 books.
• If you nominate 1 book, you can second 5 books.
4) Also, please do not nominate any books that we have already read in the past couple of years. You can view the books Faith & Fantasy has already read here.
5) The book(s) you nominate must be in the fantasy genre (here at Faith & Fantasy, both sci-fi and fairy tales may be included) and be clean or relatively clean.
6) Try to nominate books that have at least 1,000 ratings (NOT reviews) on GR. This will make it more likely that our libraries will have them. (This isn't a hard and fast rule--just preferred.)
7) Try to nominate books from *Christian authors* as much as possible. It doesn't have to have obvious spiritual themes, but please *don't ever nominate a book with themes that clash with biblical truth*. This is especially important due to the fact that F&F has members of all ages.
Some content guidelines:
• Limited or no profanity. If there is any profanity, it should be on the “mild” side.
• Romantic relationships should be healthy.
• Romantic relationships should not get physical “on the page” beyond what could be done in public. If there has been “off the page” sexual activity, it should be between a married man and woman.
• Think: “If Jesus were to be physically sitting in my living room with me, would I read this book, in its entirety, aloud to Him?"
I will create a poll for us to vote on based on this thread's nominations in approximately 1 week. The poll will be linked in this thread and will be available from F&F's homepage under "Polls".
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask them below! Happy nominating!
