Never: Ken Follett
Done over 800 pages, Follett shows us how to reach the brink of nuclear war. (A)
The Instruments of Darkness: John Connolly
For an Irish guy, he seems to have mailed his view of a quite dark and spooky Maine. Or maybe it is something about Maine, but Charlie Parker is hired to show that a woman did not murder her child, and finds the answer much deeper and darker than one might expect. (A)
Buster, A Dog: George Pelecanos
A novella, written from the standpoint of the dog. This is no chet and ernie, Pelecanos writes of the street of Washington, and this is where the dog is, for better or for worse, and the dog sees both aspects of the world. (B+)
Measure of Darkness:Jonathan and Jesse Kellerman
A shooting at a party, and the story of the aftermath. Investigation courtesy of coroner Clay Edison, with a cameo by Alex Delaware. (B)
Think Twice: Lisa Scottoline
Fun to read, but probably too many over used devices- being buried alive, evil twin, twin you didn;t know about. Twin stealing identity. (B)
First Lie Wins” Ashley Elston
Funny premise, almost like you canp;t find an honest person anywhere here, and had to watch for who was conspiring against whom. (B)
Evidence: Jonathan Kellerman
Murder, then arson, then more murder. Yet so little is what it seems. (B)
Think Twice: Harlan Coben
If you can accept the premise then you are in for a nice visit with Win and Myron as they hunt for a serial killer. The end of the book is structured to convince you all the twists do indeed make sense. (B)
Sarah Jane: James Sallis
Kind of a story of small town life and policing mixed with character studies. Maybe a little mystery, but you have to read carefully to find it. (B-)
