This area is for any discussion about the June 2024 Musical Protagonists book selection, Daisy Jones & The Six, before we begin reading it.

~~~
Daisy is a girl coming of age in L.A. in the late sixties, sneaking into clubs on the Sunset Strip, sleeping with rock stars, and dreaming of singing at the Whisky a Go Go. The sex and drugs are thrilling, but it’s the rock ’n’ roll she loves most. By the time she’s twenty, her voice is getting noticed, and she has the kind of heedless beauty that makes people do crazy things.
Also getting noticed is The Six, a band led by the brooding Billy Dunne. On the eve of their first tour, his girlfriend Camila finds out she’s pregnant, and with the pressure of impending fatherhood and fame, Billy goes a little wild on the road.
Daisy and Billy cross paths when a producer realizes that the key to supercharged success is to put the two together. What happens next will become the stuff of legend.
Tiffany (herbtiff) | 176 comments I have heard such fun things about this book. But I will be honest, this isn't my normal type of genre.
That's a big part of why I enjoy the club--it encourages me to read things that I might not otherwise. Have really enjoyed some picks that I would have missed altogether if I just kept reading what I normally choose. Some less than great books too---but that's ok.
Michael J. (michaeljclarke) | 157 comments I read one chapter of this last year, and then shelved it for later - just because I had so many other books clamoring for my attention at that time.
I watched one episode of the streaming series, and then shelved it for later - - just because I had so many other series clamoring for my attention at that time.
Now, you have given me a good reason to dust off my copy and have at it. I'm happy to be joining you for the discussions.
Fun Fact: I'm a huge music fan, my favorite era is the mid to late 1960's.
Kristen Fort | 92 comments Convinced my teacher besties (most of them not on Goodreads... yet) to read this one as the first of our summer reads. I obtained my copy this afternoon.
One of my teacher besties said the audiobook is phenomenal, so if there's any of you venturing that route...
This will be my first Taylor Jenkins Reid novel. Sounds like fun!
Devon (dgivi13) | 176 comments @michael i enjoyed the book but the show sort of bored me i never finished it. You just reminded me there was one! Maybe I’ll have to take another stab at that
Tiffany (herbtiff) | 176 comments I am listening to the Audible version. It has been interesting, but maybe not loving that era is affecting me. The full cast of readers is definitely what is keeping me engaged.
Dawn (dawnella77) | 156 comments This is a genre I do not typically read either . I love music and music history although reading about it is another story. Not sure how I could be convinced to read it, although I hear from others that it is a great read.
