⭐️ Each team member will need to read one book each week - ONLY.
⭐️ The book must match a task from that week's list.
⭐️ Books must be at least 140 pages. Audio book page length is determined by the first paper version that shows up.

How to get points:
1. Read a book for a GISH task. There will be 26 tasks each week.
Do not start reading until Monday morning (12:01 am, your time) and you must finish reading and post completion by Sunday night (midnight, your time).

Each task gets points. The points may be higher if the task is trickier. The difficulty of the reading prompt does not reflect the points given to the task. (I did not assign the points to the tasks. That was done by GISH people.)

2. If the book you're reading fits a second GISH task, you can claim those points as well. (The connection must be obvious. If you're unsure if your book fits, check with your teammates. If you're still not confident, ask on the Q&A thread.)

3. Buddy read a book for a GISH task. This is worth 50 points.

***You can add 2 and/or 3 to the mandatory 1 for additional points.***

Team members can read the same task. Points for the previous week's tasks will be announced when everyone's Completion Posts are reported. Tasks will be posted each Friday morning.

If a team member has scheduled an absence, someone else on the team can match their book up to 4 different tasks so as not to miss points.

If someone misses two deadlines, they will be removed from the game.

Details:
*Teams will be posted Wednesday, June 5.
*There will be 8 'Weeks' to the game.
*Week 1's tasks will be posted Friday, June 7.
*The game will begin on Monday, June 10 at 12:01 a.m. (your time)
*The game will conclude Sunday, Aug 4 at 12:59 p.m. (your time)
*If your profile is set to private, you will need to open it for the duration of the game. You may need to be contacted by the head of your team and there are a few tasks where your teammates will need to see your bookshelves.

Jade aka MrsTosh (mrstosh) | 1347 comments Hi everyone,

This is your captain speaking :) welcome to GISH!

Some of you may already know me as we have played on the same teams before. Looking forwards to starting this challenge with you all. Like my life isn't busy enough, I can't say no when I see a new challenge listed.

For those of you who don't know me. My name is Jade. I live in the UK with my husband of 25 years and my cat Pablo.

I think I was born a bookworm and always have a book or two on the go. Usually one on my kindle and one on audio.
I have quite eclectic tastes and like most genres of books depending on my mood at the time. My favourites would have to be paranormal and historical romance. I am a sucker for picking a book by its cover art alone.

I haven't played this game before so for anyone who has, any help or advice would be appreciated.

Anyone have any team name ideas?
Scav3ngers
Three Scavenger
The Furious Finders
Sherlock Homies
Clue Crusaders

message 17: by Kari (new)

Kari | 633 comments Hello, checking in!
I've never heard of or played this game before but it sounds fun and not too complicated. Is there a SS or we don't need one?
I love the names, Jade. My favorites are Scav3ngers, Sherlock Homies, or Clue Crusaders.

Jade aka MrsTosh (mrstosh) | 1347 comments Hi Kari,

Yes, I am just creating a spreadsheet as I thought it would be easier for points tracking as we have to submit a completion post every week. I will pop the link up once I have completed it.

I have never played this game before either so whatever makes it easier LOL ;)

Jade aka MrsTosh (mrstosh) | 1347 comments I have created a spreadsheet for us to use and keep track of the scores. We have to put a completion post on to the main page. You can also put yours on to the spreadsheet or if you prefer not to let me know and I can pop them on. Anyone want to help keep track of the scores?

message 28: by Kari (new)

Kari | 633 comments Jade, I'll help with whatever you need, and we can all double check scores too. For team name Scav3ngers sounds great.
Anybody know what they're reading yet?

Thank you :) hopefully the spreadsheet will make things easier and make sure we can keep scores unto date etc. Can everyone access it ok? Link is here just incase you didn't see it in my previous post.

Anyone up for a buddy read, I hear that is how we make more points. If I understand the rules correctly, each book we choose can cover up to 2 tasks for points, and if we do a buddy read we are earn an extra 50 for each person who reads it on the team.

message 34: by Rosina (new)

Rosina | 128 comments sure BR would bee great...what book are you thinking of...

message 35: by Leslie Ann (new)

Leslie Ann | 391 comments Wow extra 50 each, I can do a br . Book?

message 36: by Kari (new)

Kari | 633 comments The Secret Lives of Country Gentlemen (The Doomsday Books, #1) by K.J. Charles Time of My Life (Time After Time #1) by Mary Frame Within the Mind (In the Mind, #1) by Alice Winters Crazy Heifer (The Valentine Boys #2) by Lani Lynn Vale The King and Jai (Royal & Reckless, #1) by Isla Olsen The Thief by Bonnie Dee The Grumpy Billionaire (Billionaires of Manhattan, #8) by Annika Martin My Darling Bride (The Darlings) by Ilsa Madden-Mills Condos and Corpses (Sapphire Beach Cozy Mystery Series Book 1) by Angela K. Ryan
I could read any of these if someone wants to BR? The first one is a back room BOM for the Book Games in NBRC in case anyone is doing that. They all work for at least 2 tasks that I can tell.

message 37: by Jade aka MrsTosh (new)

Jade aka MrsTosh (mrstosh) | 1347 comments Yes according to the Q&A page, Lanelle wrote:

This means if the book you read for that week's task matches another task in that week's set, you can claim the points for the second task as well. If you buddy read a book, you can get 50 more points.

1. You get points for the 1st task you read for.
2. More points if your book obviously matches a second task.
3. 50 more points if you buddy read a book with someone on your team.

You can add 2 and/or 3 to the mandatory 1 for additional points.

Example:
Task 566. Read a book with an MPG of 'Classic Literature'.
Task 568. Read a book where the MC's name is Elizabeth.
If you Buddy Read Pride and Prejudice, you get points for 1, 2, and 3.

Each person on your team that participates in the buddy read would get the 50 points.

Apologies, I did post the link for BR requests in Post 4 at the top of the page.

I didn't manage to get online last night, so didn't realise you had been looking for it. I've got the dreaded lurgy and feel rubbish at the moment. But will see if I can find Pineapple Lies to do a BR.

Emeli any idea what you are going to read?
