minzi | 388 comments Hello!

In this topic: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/... the author asks to have two series combined in only one (the same way as Amazon is newly handling it). Is this okay, or should the second series be kept? Thanks for any advice (or directly solving the request in the original post ;)).

Olga Silvertongue (olgasilvertongue) | 6723 comments Hi! The fact that the series were merged/created/deleted on Amazon has no bearing on how the series is organized on Goodreads.
To be a series on Goodreads, books need to have more than a common theme -- like characters in common, an overarching storyline, a shared universe, etc.

I think these series were created incorrectly in the first place. These books seem to have the same characters, so they should be the one series.

Tami (tamicarvallo) | 6987 comments No, the series were correctly created at the time. You can tell by the logs that these were separate series back then, and the author confirmed it too. We shouldn't delete an old series since it is valid data; we can update it but never delete it. In this case, it isn't an update, as the author said the series were merged. I think the best way to handle it would be to create a new series for 'Bratty Family Adventure Chapter Books' and set it as primary.

minzi | 388 comments Hello,

thank you both for your answers. I handled it (for the time being) as Tami suggested and added notes to all series.
