Tawnya | 4044 comments The oldest request is for the author Ot Dergi. The link that the reader provided is obviously not allowed. However, doing a search nets you the "author" on the first hit. That is because it is a magazine. The book does have an ISBN, so it should be allowed under the policy. BUT! that ISBN is invalid. There are three other editions of the magazine on the site. What is the protocol here? If it was just this one issue, I would think it was a bad printing job, but the fact that none of the books have ISBNs seems to indicate this is not an accident. Whatever system they are using it is not one that the rest of us are.

Arenda | 26447 comments An isbn13 starting with 977 is not an (invalid) isbn. It is an ISSN, that is converted to an EAN-13 bar code.

(From the WIkipedia page: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?..., scroll down to In EANs.)

Olga Silvertongue (olgasilvertongue) | 6723 comments And since this is a popular culture magazine (https://tr.wikipedia.org/wiki/OT_(dergi)) and doesn't have ISBN, I've marked those as invalid.

ISBN is international identifier. ISBN13 always begins with 978- or 979-

It's a bad cycle. Someone (not a librarian) incorrectly added a magazine to the database, another person sees the added issues and asks to add more. The librarian sees the request and what is already in the database and has doubts.

Thanks Olga. The original thread linked by Tawnya has been removed, so I can't weigh in. Reading this thread it sounds like the correct action was taken and this is now resolved. 😊
