message 2: by Addison :) (new)

Addison :) | 39 comments This is a hard one, but I really loved the Song of Achilles and Heartless! I think they are tied for my favorite , but they were both so wonderfully written and tragic, and I loved both of them so much ! I cried when both of them were over lol.

message 9: by Amanda (new)

Amanda | 50 comments The Ravenhood Trilogy by Kate Stewart was absolutely hands down my favorite series of the year so far, and I’m not sure anything will come close to it. First book is called ‘Flock’ - sorry in advance for the tears shed if you read it.

Andrea | 24 comments Amanda wrote: "The Ravenhood Trilogy by Kate Stewart was absolutely hands down my favorite series of the year so far, and I’m not sure anything will come close to it. Is this for me??

message 11: by Amanda (new)

Amanda | 50 comments @Andrea Hi! Flock is a contemporary/dystopian fiction romance so it’s a bit of a departure from the fantasy aspect. But if you’re looking for something as a breather in-between the fantasy realm series(sometimes I get fantasy burnout), I highly recommend this one. It’s so so good (heartbreaking in the best way) and also well written I think you’d love it regardless. Most of my friends on here loved it too!

message 12: by Andrea (new)

Andrea | 24 comments Well, that's enough for me. I'm finishing the Blood of a Fae series, than I start. I consider this a death debt. Not really, but I like getting that term into a conversation...

message 40: by Jabotikaba (new)

Jabotikaba | 41 comments For now, it's Chimeras of Estmer by Heather Marsh. I may change my mind as I'm about to start reading The Navigator's Children (the final book in Tad Williams' The Last King of Osten Ard series). But I've known about the Osten Ard books for a long time, so Chimeras of Estmer will definitely remain a great discovery of the year for me.
This book is everything I look for in a good fantasy novel. The world building is phenomenal, the magic system is unusual, the plot has many twists and the characters are great and very diverse as they belong to different cultures and peoples. It may be a bit slow at first, but it quickly becomes a fast-paced adventure full of humour, romance, magic, friendship and amazing twists.
It's a really clever mix of classic fantasy and YA. I have no idea how the author managed to make this combination work, but I think that's what makes this book so great. It's super easy to read and also reminds me of great books like LOTR or ASOIAF.

message 50: by Katlin Sherrie (new)

Katlin Sherrie (katlinsherriexo) | 6 comments The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon! I was honestly blown away whilst reading this. I have read so many Fantasy books that use Romance as the plot itself and have been on a hunt to find a Fantasy novel that uses Romance as a sublot. This book definitely did that for me! I loved the world building in this book as well. The dystopian vibes I got whilst turning the page truly made this book stick with me!
