I can’t believe I’ve finished the second book. I wish I hadn’t! This story is so good; I can’t understand why I didn’t read it sooner. I know I didn’t like Chamberlain (for no real reason, just an actor I wasn’t interested in), but I could have read the book! I’m very happy you suggested it and that I gave it a try. Honestly, it’s a great love story, very well written, and interesting until the end! Now I’m wondering if I should continue with the series. Have you read any of the other books?
Starting book 4 today. I love this story!I haven’t read any of the other Asia Saga books, but I’m tempted.

Finished. I'm like you... so happy I had the experience to read this; so sad that it's over because it's a glorious tale. No wonder the miniseries was such a hit - there was such amazing source material to adapt.
I would have liked to know what happened to him afterwards. Did he marry? Did he had children? Things like that 🤔
Yes! And did he ever make it back to Europe? But I honestly do like the not knowing, especially as we were given Toranaga's ultimate plan... (view spoiler).Just excellent, excellent writing and world building.
