Michelle (michelletm81) | 3 comments Long ago I read Deadwood and loved it, and I loved the show (along with "Godless" on Netflix, so good). Anything up that alley you guys can recommend me? Thanks.

Excel Lifestyle | 8 comments I’d recommend the Virginian by Owen Wister. It was written in the early 1900s so Wister was around in “Old West” times. It’s often called the first Western. While it’s romanticized it definitely gives some insight into the life of Cowboys and how they were viewed by others.

It’s kind of a history double whammy because you get historical information on the Old West, but also get a look into how the Western Genre was borne and how the Old West got its reputation.

It doesn’t hurt that it’s a well written classic either
