Greg Ward I'm halfway through the Kingdom of Lies Series and I am considering what to read next. I'm indecisive between Mistborn and Eragon, so I've opted to let others make the choice for me. Share your preference, and I'll read the one with the most recommendations next.

I made it through 4 Mistborn books and gave up
Eragon seemed too much a pastiche of tropes thrown together

maybe Shadows of the Apt by Adrian Tchaikovsky instead?

If you're planning to run through the whole series they both get woo-woo near the ends, but Mistborn has a more satisfying ending.

But you should read The Steerswoman series instead...

another good one and it's the woo-woo (good term) that turned me off on the Mistborn series.

Gabi | 3441 comments Like Silvana said, the first 3 Mistborn novels are a great read and adventure in epic Fantasy. They perfectly stand on their own. Later novels are more heist and flintlock Fantasy with a wild west touch.

Palash (naikon) | 42 comments Original mistborn trilogy(first 3 books). Rest of the mistborn books are not nearly as good but first three are awesome.

Sue McKerns | 25 comments I recently finished reading Mistborn and it was well worth my time. I felt it was a little slow to start but it really kept my interest once I got into it. Great magic system, well-crafted characters. I immediately bought book 2.
