brian tanabe I just spotted this on Rothfuss's blog -- donate to the non-profit he's championing and get your name in the next book! Freakin' eh.

I know posting such a topic seems counterproductive to my chances of having my name immortalized in the second book, but Rothfuss is donating all the money to his charity.

See his blog for more details:

So cool.

And there's Pat!
*wave*

message 5: by brian (new)

brian tanabe Despite Pat's clear and explicit (and even color coded) instructions, I still failed, in my excitement, to properly Paypal my donation...

message 6: by Laurel (new)

Laurel I've made my donation - thanks so much Pat, for helping we nerds (proud, card carrying member) channel our passions in a helpful direction. Good luck with it all!

message 7: by brian (new)

brian tanabe There's definitely a non-paypal way (which soon might be the only way):

brian tanabe Deadline is Nov 15th if I read things right...

brian tanabe Good news/Bad News
Just read Rothfuss' blog (new posting from yesterday): Paypal is officially working and a TON of people have donated already ($8,000!).

message 13: by brian (new)

brian tanabe Ah, I certainly dont want to answer here and go out on a limb. Whatever you decide, do it fast. AND, as a side note, the one time I contacted Rothfuss, I received a timely and direct email solving the problem.

It makes me happy to see so many posts here! There should be another opportunity to donate to Heifer later if you aren't interested in the name raffle.

Jeromy (kenkari) I haven't looked yet.. but maybe i'll get a quick answer here from someone.. I need to know which chapter to suggest to someone to read.. so they get a taste of book. If i could get some suggestions it would help a lot... tnx guys/gals/misc

message 17: by brian (new)

brian tanabe I think the book opens well, try that.

message 18: by Jeromy (new)

Jeromy (kenkari) Well.. yes.. it does.. if your already settled on trying the book.. my goal is to get her hooked in the shortest time possible.. (she's a wife and mother)... so i want to grab her attention quick.. then she can go get the whole book and read the backstory.. and the rest of it... know what i mean?

I think Fela's rescue is exciting. Also, the first conversation with Auri is very sweet.
