Welcome to our first buddy read. Hope you enjoy participating.
I have posted the book in parts, allowing people to read at their own pace.

Thanks, Lisa. I bought the hard copy - figured it's a good one to have on the shelf.

John, I found it on Kalahari ebook.
Think this is an appropriate time to read this book, with the ongoing transformation discussions.
It's going to be a toughie & quite a commitment

John Mountford (killmandela) | 735 comments Crime in South Africa explained:

Mondli: 'I grew up with the notion that stealing from whites is actually not stealing. Way back, Africans had no concept of stealing other than taking cattle as a means of contesting power. But you whiteys came and accused us of stealing - while at the very same minute you were stealing everything from us!'

Complicated. Will we ever untangle our intertwined cultures?

Good question.

Hope to start tomorrow, I worked this weekend.

Carolien (carolien_s) Definitely complicated. The creation of the commission is an example of how we can get things done if there is sufficient will (and external pressure, in this case from the interim Constitution).

One of the conversations that emerged from the discussions surrounding the Rhodes statue at UCT was the need for ongoing conversation around transformation. Ongoing reparation & evaluation. You can't band aid past hurts, because in tough times those emotions resurface & are acted upon in negative ways.

I've just started this, been dwelling on the Discworld since March 12.

The description of ET is outstanding. I can see the man so clearly.

The TRC started when I was in std 7. We were discussing WW2 in history and the similarities between Aprtheid& Nazi Germany were pretty apparent.
