It wasn't, but a book adaptation was written.

I was pretty impressed by S.A.Barnes' debut horror novel, "Dead Silence", which definitely had an "Event Horizon" vibe to it. Her second novel "Ghost Station" was also a pretty decent space-horror novel.

The space horror books I've read or are on my tbr pile:
The Luminous Dead
The Scourge Between Stars
Semiosis
The Voyage of the Space Beagle
2389
The Hematophages
The Outside
The Numinous
In Space No One Can Hear You Scream

Jeff McIntosh

"Black Destroyer" by A. E. Van Vogt
"Nightflyers" by George R. R. Martin
The former is a 1940s novella you can find in a lot of anthologies, and The Voyage of the Space Beagle. The latter can be found in Martin's story collections; it's not great, but there are spots where it feels like it should have been.
