Hello team!

Your spreadsheet, Round 1 tab, has been updated with your first three characters: Quasimodo, Elsa, & Ariel! Please remember that the challenge begins on 8/1 and that you only need to finish 4 tasks (out of the 8) before getting a new character.


FYI —this will be what the colors mean for the same round.
Light Pink will be a new character.
Light Purple will be when you complete the first 4 out of 8 tasks.
Dark Pink will be the new character you have but need to complete the remaining 4 tasks.
Dark Purple will be a fully completed character.

I am not sure how we will be going about the challenge so here are the tasks I can do!
Ariel - Authors first/last name starts with A, Green cover (75%)
Elsa - Features magic
Quasimondo - Monster' in text (pg/% & quote)

I figure we should only claim a spot on the SS once our book for that spot is finished, so that way people can post as soon as possible and we won't have to wait for anyone to finish a CR before getting a new character

I do too, i've had people claim a spot and then not complete the book. In the meantime we were all waiting for them to finish so we could move on. The majority of the time the book they were reading fit in another category later so banking it worked just fine.

I think the plan right now is just to claim a category only after the book is finished. If you're planning to put one book in a certain category but someone else posts for it first, then either see if you can fit your book somewhere else or put it in the banked tab for when we get a new character. In my experience with these challenges, double ups don't tend to be too common because a lot of the categories are either really broad (one book fits many categories) or super specific (it's hard to find one book that fits, much less two). I hope this helps!

I started a book on 29th July, and will probably finish it today. It would fall under some of the categories. Can it be used for a category or is it just page points as I started it before August? And do I only count the pages I read in August or the whole book?

I'm pretty sure that you can still use it for a category as long as you read more than 100 pages after August, and you only count the pages that you read in August

Yes, that is correct.

Is it more than necessary? We eventually have to complete all 8 tasks anyway and once completed if we get it again we will be able to post for other categories. Just a thought.

Fair point! I meant mostly for planning. We want to move on to a new character as soon as we can, so if folks always keep their books in the SS then I'll know if I can/should actively try to read for that character, or if we already have enough to get a new one

I claimed a spot in the spreadsheet. I did finish the book last night. I will enter the book, review it and all that jazz when I can walk without the room spinning. I took some Motrin and I hope this fever breaks soon.

Hey questions here, I listened to the audiobook Bride by Ali Hazelwood, I can't find online the quote where it says 'bride' in the text. Can I still use it without citing the page #?
