Aymen Ben cheikh Crazy things happening, an update from Kerry's dad in her facebook:

"JUST WHEN YOU THOUGH IT COULDN'T GET ANY WORSE!

Thank you everyone for you kind messages and comments. It is completely overwhelming to see the amount of love out there for Kerry. Thank you <3

Today we received the results of a more detailed brain scan. It has also been several days since the initial trauma which often gives greater visibility of damage. The MRI showed patches of damage over the whole of the brain. This is as a result of the brain being starved of glucose due to the massive levels of insulin. They cannot tell us much as to how the brain is likely to react going forward as people do not usually survive this far with this type of medical nightmare, so their data is limited. They are looking to do an EEG probably tomorrow. Kerry can function by herself for short while without a respirator but will not wake up.

Now for the news we were not at all prepared for. Due to Kerry's age (22) they say that the brain may possibly rewire itself to some degree, although how much is impossible to say. As she is so young there is no way they will allow us to leave her off of the ventilator, refuse treatment of any infections, or withhold food, and simply make her comfortable until her body finds peace.

Tomorrow they are doing a trichotomy so they can continue to support her breathing and feed her. This also helps to prevent infection in the respiratory system. Then they intend to leave her to see how the brain responds. We have been told that we should expect her to be kept laying there like this for months if not years!!!!

They do not believe there to be any awareness or brain function but they cannot absolutely guarantee it. So, the doctors believe that the "Kerry" we know gone from her body but the UK medical system will not allow her body to join her for several months if not years... it is a nightmare beyond all the we could ever imagine."

TO THE UK NHS, IF YOU CARE (AS YOU MOST CERTAINLY DO NOT BY YOUR ACTIONS TOWARD AN ADULT): LET KERRY DIE PEACEFULLY! LET HER FAMILY STOP (BLEEPING) HURTING! LET THEM HAVE HER BODY BACK AND PREPARE IT FOR BURIAL! THIS IS NOT DIGNIFIED AT ALL! NOR IS IT HUMANE, MUCH LESS "CHRISTIAN"!

That's the medical system across the pond. If this happened here they would unplug the machines, move her to hospice, and be on a morphine drip so she'd feel nothing until she passed on. Just went through this with my Mother-In-Law in Jan., she had several health problems, was a tough lady and just sad that she couldn't have passed on easier than she did.

No medical system is perfect, look at ours!!!! Ain't it wonderful, not and for example. You can commit Medicare fraud, have the company you were CEO on pay the US Gov. $600 million which is the largest settlement ever in our history, plead the fifth admit nothing and still get elected governor of a state. Yup and wonderful bleep Florida, the arm pit of America elected that CEO Rick Scott as it's governor and he may even end up Trump's VP, on his shortlist.

Are you SURE Kerry would have been unplugged here in the US? Look at the crap Terry Schiavo's family went through! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terri_S... http://www.politico.com/magazine/stor... and http://www.nbcnews.com/health/health-...

I remember the case because that's what triggered my Mom, God rest her soul, to tell me, both of her older brothers (one is dead now) and her only surviving older sister (as well as at least three of her nieces and nephews) that if the docs said there was no chance for her to survive w/o becoming a vegetable we were to pull the plug...after we'd informed out of state relatives, told them what she wanted and heard their opinions. Only ONE person said to keep her plugged in. We ignored that relative. Only took her 3 hrs. to die after we unplugged her. She didn't have her stroke until '06, though.

The Schiavo case was her family fighting with her husband to keep her alive in the Court system but your talking one case, our system depends more on the Drs. ethics or at least that's been my experience of it. I know they ask my father-in-law who was going to pay for the continued care, once they knew the State of KY was, they recommend hospice and if he was paying. She'd be in a nursing home being assisted to breath, with a feeding tube and around the clock care.

My Dad had a living will, didn't want to be resituated, which his Dr. followed and actually cried that he could bring him back. Told use that in 35 as a heart doctor, he never lost a patient, actually cried in his wife's arms, talked to his pastor even and would never forget him.

Aymen Ben cheikh New update from Kerry's dad on facebook :

*** Update ***

Kerry is now breathing herself and is no longer sedated or on a respirator, although the tracheotomy tube is still there just in case. Alas, she still will not wake up. She is stable and does not appear to be in any discomfort although it is impossible to tell for sure. We are still waiting on the repeat EEG as they keep changing plans at the hospital.

If any of you wonderful, kind, people out there want to record a short message for Kerry and send it to me on FB, I will collate them and play them to her through a headset. Please remember to say who you are and where you’re from also. You never know, it may just help a little.

Lastly, I am certainly no Kerry but she is pretty much a carbon copy of me (in female form and billions prettier). If any of you need to talk to someone, which would usually have been Kerry, please feel free to contact me. I am sure Kerry would want me to be there for you all in her absence and my door is always open 24 x 7.

Sorry that I do not have any better news to share.

I cannot thank you enough for all your love, support, and wonderful comments for Kerry. It means more than I could ever say… x <3 x

Actually, Mike, things HAVE NOT changed enough here in the US for people since the Schiavo case. It's only been 11 years... . If things had changed as much as you seem to think, why the (bleeping ) Hell did the Rethugs pitch a fit and fall in it over health care reform back in 2008?! Remember the flap over the TOTALLY NON-EXISTENT "death panels" that the Alaskan airhead, Sarah Palin, was flapping her gums over when she was John McCain's running mate?

Christine: It's the MINORITY of doctors, like the ones involved in the aforementioned Terry Schiavo case, who will not, because they do NOT believe that people like Terry and Kerry do not have the medical equivalent of a snowball's chance in Hell of recovering. Those docs are in it for the money!

Mike (again): No. The government should have no damned say in weather or not your loved one in a vegetative state MUST continue to be tortured by life support they didn't want to begin with! As I told Christine, it all boils down to worshiping at the temple of Mammon.

Sean: Exactly! "We never let our animals suffer, we should let all human beings die with dignity and peace."

Unfortunately, that's simple common sense and as I've said multiple times on multiple occasions in multiple places on and off GR "We as a species abhor anything that reeks of common sense the way traditional vampires are supposed to abhor garlic, holy water, sunlight, silver, stakes, crosses/crucifixes and rose bushes!"

Kirsten: Now you know better.

Aymen: I wish I could participate via Facebook for this, but I can't. Please tell Kerry's Dad to stay strong for her Mom because I think Kerry would want him to do that.

HornFan2 (hornfan2) | 235 comments Amber google Rick Scott then you'll understand the bleep since I'd get in trouble if I used the actual word on here. Although I see nothing wrong with using profanity, sometimes it's unavoidable and other times you just can't help yourself not to go the high road. It's part of my new mantra, look on youtube, for Sister Sin's 'Fight Song' they say it in the beginning and it's so true, especially when you look at daily life. Plus as the Party Guru, the most rockin' DJ ever, signed off every night saying, 'Keep one foot in the gold, one in the gutter and you'll never get lost'. Life's to short to worry about opinion's, since I seriously doubt I would ever agree with you on this one and found it amusing that you used the Schiavo case. Since I live in Fla., you never hear anything about it here after what her faithful god fearing husband did, having a girlfriend and the Catholic faith let him get re-married in it's church, since he was considered a Widower. But they won't let you if your gay, divorced, etc.. So it's obvious why he fought so hard for his Tracy to die!!!

But seriously in the County, I live in, we've had 18 traffic fatalities this year, four of those were from their families taking loved ones off of life support and I had that in mind regarding times changing.

Now I never said anything about the Government having any say in whether you are a vegetable or not. My comment was in regard to what Medicare would pay for the care, also it varies from state to state, but they all have programs were they pay for some, most or all the around the clock care.

Really it all comes down to monetary gain these days, it's all about how much money are you going to put in my pocket, before I do anything and if you realize that. You'll understand the appeal for Donald Trump. A guy who's paying his way for the right to be President, he's not taking any money like the other candidates are.
Now if that douche bag from Ohio would just pack up his toys, go home and realize his 15 minutes of fame are long over. He'd win the nomination outright, but fear for not, since he has another option to stay in the race and all you republicans are going to hate it.

tRUMP is a hateful bigot. Like almost all the other Rethugs he forgets that Jesus was ALSO once an illegal immigrant. Remember THAT part of the Nativity story? He also forgets that Jesus said "I was a stranger and you welcomed me," NOT "I was a stranger and you asked me for my papers."

And that's just ONE example of his hate and bigotry. He should take the advice Thumper got from his father: "If you can't say something nice, don't say nothing at all!" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I71cY... *

http://www.cnn.com/videos/politics/20... is just one example of the fact that technically, the KIDS know more than most of us "adults."

It's NOT Medicare's decision whether or not to continue treatments that are clearly AGAINST THE WILL OF THE PATIENT AND HIS OR HER FAMILY! That choice should be made only by the family.

Regarding "Now if that douche bag from Ohio would just pack up his toys, go home and realize his 15 minutes of fame are long over. He'd win the nomination outright, but fear for not, since he has another option to stay in the race and all you republicans are going to hate it," I am not now nor have I ever been a Republican! Nor am I Democrat, except in the sense that I am a citizen of a country that is SUPPOSEDLY known as a "democratic republic," which is the full formal name of what I call a "Small d" democracy.

That off my chest, you seem to be in total agreement with what I said about "worshiping at the Temple of Mammon."

*Although this is GOOD advice for EVERYONE, including talking baby bunnies, the fact that it is technically a double negative gets my inner grammar Nazi's knickers in a knot!

HornFan2 (hornfan2) | 235 comments Amber, you sound like the 2 guys that post on-line about a wreck in the subdivision I live in, were a 17 year old girl lost their life and they blamed the Sheriff dept. that it happened. Disregarding the fact that the driver was a 19 year old, who was still in therapy from a wreck he got in a year ago. He was driving 100 mph in a '97 Honda Civic Coup, lost control, hit a light post, and killed the girl instantly. He's in critical condition for the 2nd time in 2 years but it's the Sheriff Dept. fault, verse it being his parents for letting him keep on driving and his niece never should have let him drive to begin with. (The niece parts not a typo, they were related the 19 year old was the 17 year old's Uncle. )

Aymen Ben cheikh update from kery's dad:

*** Update ***

Today the neurologist visited Kerry. There has been little change in her condition and the neurologist has absolutely no idea on a prognosis. Kerry does not need any medical intervention so will soon be moved out of Critical Care to a ward.

Unfortunately, although Kerry is functioning physically on her own there does not appear to be any conscious awareness. It is soul destroying to see her like this but we can only hope that she can find her way back. We continue to be with her every day, interacting with her as far as we are able.

As always, my sincere thanks and love goes out to all you wonderful people.

message 540: by Amber (last edited May 02, 2016 08:57AM) (new)

Amber Martingale 2003, Aymen. Heart attacks. Caused by internal bleeding as a side effect of an experimental antibiotic. Mom told me the docs told her and dad that w/o the antibiotics I had EXACTLY a 1% chance of surviving through the week but that WITH it my chances would be improved to 50/50. Mom and Dad knew that I wanted to live if I had at least a break even chance, so they told the doc to give me the experimentals.

The infection was the result of my own STUPIDITY for not taking care of myself while being busy working, ferrying Mom/Dad to dialysis (Dad) or appointments (both) and helping take care of an 18 year old Cockerpoo with end stage throat cancer

Aymen Ben cheikh update from Kerry's dad:

*** Update ***

Kerry has now been moved to a room on a ward. There have not been any signs of improvement in her condition. I’m sorry that I do not have any more information than this but it is simply a case of “wait and see”, but expect it to be a considerable amount of time - months possibly years before any improvement may be seen. Of course, her condition may also never change.

Your continual love, support, and prayers mean so much. Love and hugs to you all… x <3 x

message 545: by Amber (last edited May 02, 2016 09:07AM) (new)

Amber Martingale Amy: I don't talk about it much because I don't often get asked. Dad died less than 12 hours after he and Mom had to put Buttercup down before she starved/dehydrated to death. Mom told me that about 5 minutes before she found out Dad had died, she answered the phone from the hospital telling them I had just woken up from the coma.

Mom died almost a decade ago.

And yes, I still have lasting effects. The main one is I have difficulty remembering what I just did 15 minutes ago, but sometimes something idiotic I did as a kid comes through clear as one of the Big Ben bells at Parliament Tower in London and other times, it's exactly the opposite...except when it comes to music. I can still remember one of the first times I heard this one by Leonard Rosenman and realized he had recycled part of it for his music to Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GXWGZ... This is from the Ralph Bakshi animated version of LOTR...the only one with every STAR WARS geeks favorite protocol droid voicing Orlando Bloom's character from the Peter Jackson version.

Another effect is I've come down with early onset sciatica. I'm only 38.

Aymen: Thanks for the update.
