I agree Quillracer. We still will have his brother, but this will be the 2nd dog that we have to put down, and each time it feels like they take a little bit of our soul with them. Sue

I am so sorry, Sue. That is so heartbreaking. I know you will do what is best, filled with love and knowing you will have many happy memories. x

message 1112: by Sandy (new)

Sandy | 188 comments But Sue you have to remember all the unconditional love that you had while you had your furry friend. I had to put a dog down recently and I wouldn't have given up that love and companionship for the world. I still miss him but now I remember his talking to me when I came home and his beauty and love every day of my life. It was worth the loss to have him for 7 years. I would rather have and remember than never have at all. It will get better, the grief will still be there but the love will be also. Hang in there. Hugs!

Thank you Jean. Haven't got any sleep, as I have to keep giving Cocco pain medication, and when I leave the room, he cries. He is 98 pounds so not easy to move around. Thank god we are in a bungalow. Have to put a beach towel around his waist to get him up and take him outside to pee.Been up since 1:00A.M. Enrique started work at 4:30A.M. today, but should be home around 2:00P.M.

Sue,

I know how you feel, animal lovers !

We love of animals will all our heart!!

But you must do the right thing for Cocco however hard it is for you. Your love for your beloved pets will make you do the right decision for them and you .

My thoughts are hugs are with you, think of all the good times together, those lovely memories will stay with you forever.

I remember every cat my wife and I have loved and cared for, I would never take away those lovely memories.

Every cat I had I spent their last breathing moments with me and my voice, hardest thing I had to do but I would not have changed a thing!

But the very "hardest" thing to do is to say goodbye.

xx

They do, don't they.

We lost the first two at under 10 years old to kidney failure, and to this day I wonder what we did that we shouldn't have and what we didn't that we should have.

The third one was 17 or 18 years old (not sure because she was a rescue), was failing every which way slowly - teeth, strength, eyesight, etc. - and had no quality of life. So the choice wasn't that hard with her but it wasn't easy by any means either.

Yes, I have to be at peace that this is not how he would like to live his life. Yes he is eating and drinking, but needs full service to help him outside. For now he is lying on the kitchen floor, closest to the front door and his meds. This isn't living for an animal.

Brenda | 2434 comments I was looking at some reviews on a book and noticed one from Daisy Taylor. Many of you will remember Daisy. She reported here in this thread in 2016 that her mother had passed away and just months later that she had metastatic cancer spread into her bones. I googled Daisy and found her obituary. She passed away in February 2018. She was active on Goodreads then, even setting a reading challenge for the year. I’m sorry it took so long to learn the news.
