I strongly advise you to search for medical help. Sometimes what's weighting over our shoulder can be solved within a week using proper medication. Hormone levels, streess and emotional breakdown can sink us really fast.

Nora aka Diva (DuctTapeDiva) | 66 comments Well crud. If I can't cough up $1,000 dollers before 5-31-15 the bank will start foreclosure procedings on June 1st. I am going to be homeless, I fear. :(

Sandysbookaday (taking a midwinter break) (sandyj21) | 5101 comments Is there someone at the bank you can speak to Nora to explain your predicament? Take along your medical certificates and see if there is some way they can work out a plan for your to make your back-payments over a period of time. It might help if someone from the Salvation Army could go along with you.
Good luck 8:D

message 175: by Vasudha (new)

Vasudha (vasudhaka) sorry to hear that

Sandysbookaday (taking a midwinter break) (sandyj21) | 5101 comments I am sorry to hear that too Nora. But in these instances it is actually better to front them up face to face than try to do it over the telephone. See if you can make an appointment and take along a support person. 8:D

message 177: by DianeAlice (new)

DianeAlice | 142 comments Nora, do you have a mental health worker? You really need someone like that to go along to the bank with you and explain that you've been under such stress that you ended up in hospital. I really hope you can work something out. Money troubles are awful and you need as much support as you can get and hopefully work out some long term solution. Good luck.

message 178: by Patricia (new)

Patricia | 1266 comments DianeAlice is right. You need someone to vouch for you that you are having a stressful time and have been in the hospital. Someone like a social worker or whoever you worked with at the hospital.

message 179: by Nora aka Diva (new)

Nora aka Diva (DuctTapeDiva) | 66 comments I wonder if my med manager could make a difference?

message 180: by Jessica (new)

Jessica (jessical1961) I hate to be a Debbie Downer here, but I doubt taking a mental health professional with you will help anything. In my experience banks could not care less about a person's mental state of mind. All they care about is when are you going to give me my money, and if you can't pay you can't stay. My best friend tried that when he was in danger of being foreclosed on and the bank basically gave him the finger and said you have 30 days to vacate the premises.

message 181: by Freda (last edited May 30, 2015 03:52PM) (new)

Freda Malone | 418 comments Nora, when the lender sends you the foreclosure notice, you should be able to file an answer to their complaint and attend the court hearing. Any attempt to avoid the notices will look bad on you. Leave a paper trail of attempts to work with the lender and provide documents of your situation.

If you have a temporary disability, provide documentation to the lender.

If you've applied for social security disability, provide the date that you applied for SSDI.

If you have a mental health case manager, not a med counselor, take one with you. If you don't have a MH case manager, find one. A med manager will not be able to help you but an advocate or case manager will. That is their job, to help you and tap into resources.

I don't know your situation well enough to give you many suggestions, but I hope this helps you get started. The most important is that you make attempts to work with the lender, and show documents that you have been trying to do just that. Even if you meet with the lender on your own, write a letter to explain to them your situation and your temporary disability. That way, when you walk out, they will have the original letter from you and you will have the copy. Always make copies of your paperwork.

Call your local HUD office and ask for a housing counselor to talk to as well.

message 182: by Patricia (new)

Patricia | 1266 comments Great advice from Freda. I might also add a disability attorney.

message 183: by Dawn (new)

Dawn G | 692 comments I agree, great advice from Freda. You should also contact your state's Housing Authority. My best friend was going through a divorce and received a forclosure notice from her mortgage lender. I had her contact Delaware State Housing Authority and went with her to her appointment. The representative contacted her mortgage company while we were sitting right there and urged the lender to work with her. Also, many states have what it called Emergency Mortgage Assistance Programs. You access it through your state's Housing Authority. You must qualify for the assistance and loss of income due to illness fits the criteria. But like Freda stated above, you have to be able to prove that you have attempted to work with the lender.

message 184: by Aymen (new)

Aymen Ben cheikh Really sorry and angry because of the terrorist attack of Friday in Tunisia, our hearts go to the victims and their families and we share their pain and suffering. This is not our country, this not our religion. We are so sorry.

message 185: by Christine (new)

Christine (clt04) | 4838 comments Aymen, I thought of you and Faouzia immediately. I am so relieved you both are OK physically. We too are so angry about these increasing terroristic attacks all around the world. What has become of our planet? How can there be SO many out there who want to torture and kill innocent people in the name of their religion. What kind of religion is that? And what is wrong with all these teenagers who want to go join the terrorists? What has become of our world? It has come to the point where I dread tuning in to the nightly news.

message 186: by Faouzia (new)

Faouzia | 252 comments Thanks Christine!! You got it right; I can't bear to watch the news anymore!!
Every time new killings in the name of religion; Our Religion is not one that preaches violence and killing of innocents!!!
It breaks my heart to see all these lives wasted!!! and these young people being brainwashed in the name of religions!
I don't know how long this will keep going!!

message 187: by David (new)

David Freas (quillracer) | 557 comments I think the majority of people know that the actions of those few extremists do not represent the true nature of your faith, Faouzia.

It will end, I believe, when people of all faiths stand shoulder to shoulder and denounce extremists of every faith, when the good people of this world say, "We will not tolerate this from anyone for any reason."

Janet | 5302 comments Mod
Well said.

message 189: by Christine (new)

Christine (clt04) | 4838 comments Quillracer, you said it beautifully. Faouzia, we DO know your religion does not preach violence. These extremists are sociopaths and their thinking is twisted in a very ugly way. Unfortunately, they are also masters of brainwashing young minds. Such an alarming state of affairs.

Patricia Bergman (marshop) | 1229 comments Let's pray that these terrorists will be stopped. I am now worried about the 4th of July here in the US. I am glad you two were not hurt. I guess we all need to be hyper aware of our surroundings in this day and age.

message 198: by Christine (new)

Christine (clt04) | 4838 comments Yes, apoarently there is talk of something really bad happening in the States on Saturday by the "local" ISIS followers.

message 199: by Patricia (new)

Patricia Bergman (marshop) | 1229 comments The largest 4th of July parade on the West Coast is in Huntington Beach and people are worried. After the beach attack in Tunisia, security is going to be tight.

message 200: by Christine (new)

Christine (clt04) | 4838 comments If you live anywhere around there, Patricia, I'd stay away.
