The fires in California are awful, I hope all our members are safe.

Aymen Ben cheikh i Hope everyone is safe in California

message 303: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale Please...as bad as they are,the wildfires in California haven't merited assistance from firefighters trained by the national armed forces of Australia AND New Zealand in addition to the firefighters trained by the US ARMY! Washington state's wildfires, on the other hand, HAVE had the aforementioned Aussie and Kiwi firefighters added to the arsenal.

Aymen Ben cheikh it's been maybe a month, besides my depression and anxiety i have a low blood pressure (9.6) and its not getting better, need to do some tests soon.

Went to the Idomeni refugee/migrant transit camp on the Greek border with FYR Macedonia yesterday, which receives thousands of people per day on route for Germany and northern Europe. We drove the 600km round trip to give them our gifts of 90 litres of water, plastic sheeting for 19 families, medicines and a big sack of shoes. Here’s a snap. We had a blessed day!

Shock and horror at the awful attach on Paris yesterday.

My thoughts go out to all the family and friends, and especially those trying to find out the news on the love ones still missing.

this is so sad with 129 dead

352 injured, 99 of those life threatening injuries.

Just heartbreaking.

message 317: by Amy (new)

Amy (thenikitagirl) | 636 comments So sad, Sean! Watching the coverage last night, you can never believe something like this is happening. Again. Those poor families.

message 318: by Aymen (new)

Aymen Ben cheikh Terrible news from Paris, May God bless the victims and their families

message 319: by Kerry (last edited Nov 14, 2015 10:58AM) (new)

Kerry Hunter (kerryelizabeth) My thoughts are with every single person in Paris right now.

Let's also not forget: Lebanon where two suicide bombers killed 43 people, Japan where a 7.0 earthquake killed 18000, and triggered a tsunami, Mexico who also had a 4.3 earthquake, Baghdad where suicide bombers and roadside bombs killed 36, and China where mudslides have injured around 100 people.

My thoughts are with all of these countries and people in these harrowing times.

message 320: by Amy (new)

Amy (thenikitagirl) | 636 comments That's what I mentioned in another thread, Kerry and someone took it the wrong way. There are terrible things going on in many places. Paris, last night, is just one of them. Doesn't make what happened any less tragic, but it's just one place where terror is part of their lives right now. May those families find some peace. My heart is broken for them.

I don't see how anyone could take it the wrong way O.o We're offering love to all countries who need it, so I don't see how that could be bad :(

message 322: by Kerry (new)

Kerry Hunter (kerryelizabeth) All of them are tragic. Every single event that took place.

message 323: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) It was such a horrible shock. I woke up this morning to find out such a tragedy had occurred. What's sad is how many of us remember that there are tragedies every day? The Ukrainian people are still suffering, yet they have been displaced by Syria and now this horrid tragedy in Paris.

message 324: by Aymen (new)

Aymen Ben cheikh I agree Kerry, I feel sad for the innocent victims all over the world, the victims of Paris Syria, Japan... and yesterday a 16 year old tunisian shepherd boy was killed by terrorists while he was defending his sheeps, what happened is really ugly, they cut off his head, and sent it with his 15 year old friend to his family.

message 325: by Sue (new)

Sue (coccotoro) | 2087 comments All I can say is what is this world coming to? I have been glued to the TV (CNN) since this terrible tragedy happened in Paris. My heart goes out to all the grieving families. We live in a different world today, where in some societies, life is not precious.

That's absolutely horrific! :(

message 328: by Patricia (new)

Patricia | 1266 comments @Aymen - I can't begin to imagine why something so horrible would happen to that young man. My sincerest sympathies for his friend and family.

For those in Paris, again I cannot imagine the horror of what memories they will have to live with. I have not been watching the news very much. Anymore, these atrocities seem to upset me terribly.

I think a large scale war is inevitable.

message 329: by Aymen (new)

Aymen Ben cheikh I was going to say that the world is horrible, but it's not the world, it's what us, people, are doing to each other.

message 330: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) "man's inhumanity to man" -- sad to say it's a worldwide theme.

message 331: by Paul (new)

Paul Alkazraji | 639 comments Personally speaking, having strolled through those districts of Paris (10th and 11th) with my wife earlier this year, stopping at cafes and a restaurant, the tragedies feel, from a distance, a degree closer. On France 24 today I watched a report of how the restaurant owner of La Belle Équipe lost his wife in his arms, and how another couple stormed away from each other in a tiff, off the terrace and out the line of fire, moments before tragedy struck. Give your loved ones a hug today. ‘In the midst of life…’

Lorrea - WhatChaReadin'? (whatchatreadin) In today's Washington Post, they are speculating on an attack here in the Nation's Capital from unconfirmed video talking about the Paris attacks. I haven't been able to go anywhere in the past couple of days and not see police officers.

We also are hearing this on CNN, here in Toronto. I pray this is not true. Be safe.

Because that person who took offense at the fact that Amy was thinking about non-Parisians in ADDITION to the citizens of Paris was a heartless IDIOT!

Amy, I apologize for calling you Kerry.

Kirsten/Sue: Human nature. This is why I believe that there is no way the war on terror will ever be "won" until we as a species are GONE.

Janet: No. As a species we've been doomed to this since Cain killed Abel out of jealousy.

Pat: That's EXACTLY what jackasses like ISIS WANT! Violence begets violence! Fear drives away compassion!

Aymen/Kirsten: Precisely. "Man's inhumanity to man."

Paul: Very good advice. Not a DAY goes by w/o me wishing I'd given more hugs and less lip to my parents when I was a teenager. Or when I wish I'd been less mean to my dog, Buttercup, when I was in a bad mood about something.

Lorrea/Sue: See what I told Pat about violence and what I just told Kirsten about human nature.

Amber Martingale Kirsten, it's a damned good thing I'm NOT allowed to drink at the public library. I'd have shorted out my keyboard by spewing my drink from laughing so damned hard that I would have pissed myself over your remark "Sometimes I think dogs would be better at running this world. They'd be too busy sniffing each other's bums to blow up anything."
