Christy Collins | 39 comments Last night I went to see an opera which had been adapted from a film (Lars von Triers’ 1996 ‘Breaking the Waves’) and so I’ve been thinking about adaptation between art forms.
Which book would you like to see adapted into another form, and what form would you would you like to see it in?
Have you ever seen a film, opera, play, painting, etc (that didn’t originate as a book) and wished you could read the book?

Lamilla | 818 comments My favourite opera, Eugene Onegin, is adapted from the book of the same name Eugene Onegin. I saw it so many times that I might know it better, than the original (which we studied and partly learned by heart at school)!

Generally, I prefer the books being adapted into the TV shows, since they are longer and can follow the text better. I think most of the books I read recently would be a good source of adaptation, for example Возможность острова or Искусство терять

Oh that sounds amazing, I will have to make an effort to see it.

I think you're right, television series have more chance of capturing the complexities of books. I think movies are more often based on short stories than on novels, probably for the same reason.
