I actually read "Six of Crows" and "Crooked Kingdom" first, not realizing they were a sequel duology to the "Shadow and Bone" books (oops haha), but it didn't hinder anything.
There were a couple cameo characters/mentions of characters that I didn't understand the importance/nuance of, per se, and a spoiler that is actually a twist in the main series---so if not knowing those characters from before and reading a spoiler/twist from the main series bothers you, you might want to read the "Shadow and Bone" trilogy first.
If it doesn't bother you, then reading them before the main series doesn't take away from how great these books are individually, and it's not confusing, at least it wasn't for me. :)

I did this too! I didn't find that I missed anything by reading the SoC duology first. I actually think it's better-written than the original trilogy.

I did the same thing! I rather Six of Crows than Shadow and Bones...I thought they were written by two different people. Six of Crows has way more depth than Shadow and Bone.

I totally agree! I liked these better than the original trilogy. :)
