My favorite character is pool shark Eddie Felson from the novel, The Hustler by Walter Tevis. Eddie is a "born loser" and has showdowns with multiple people. But it is not until Eddie Felson looks at himself in the mirror and has a showdown with himself, does Eddie understand the true nature of being a winner and becomes one.
