NancyJ (nancyjjj) | 11083 comments I did not intend to read this book this month. I already had many other books started, and I wanted to wait to read it right before my book club meeting. But the hold became available early, and I just couldn’t resist. I was feeling lousy and none of the other books were appealing to me at that time. This book was a pure pleasure to read. Even though it was my second reading, I didn’t want to speed the pace. I wanted to hear every word, and luxuriate in the wonderful writing and the narration. I wanted to hang out with the family at the cherry orchard, as Lara told her daughters about the summer she dated an actor who was now very famous. (I’m glad she didn’t tell them everything.) I wanted to relax by the lake with the summer stock actors, go to rehearsals, and later go to Hollywood. I wanted to hear about the lives of the three daughters, their father, and Lara’s different relationships with each one. I had forgotten the moving twist near the end. I had such a nice summer with them all.
