I brought Kobo after using Pocketbook for many years and I love Kobo now.
I've only ever gotten a Kindle, so I don't have a opinion ...

I mainly use Kindle I also like using Apple Books (it has an auto scroll feature so I can just lay there and read)
“alreader” on android, it can handle all kind of formats easily.
I have KU and just read off my phone and ipad
