For our group reads for - October - we have chosen two books each with the theme - Opal Birthstone - books set in Rural Australia - therefore members will have four to choose from when you vote in the poll. (Once again, all Aussie authors)

Our choices are:

Wallaby Lane by Maya Linnell Wallaby Lane by Maya Linnell

From interviewing local flower growers to receiving blue ribbons for her show baking, Lauren Bickford's genuine love for her hometown is almost as strong as her ambition to become a radio presenter. But is it enough to outweigh the series of on-air stuff-ups that have plagued her career?

No stranger to this small winegrowing region in South Australia's Limestone Coast, Jack Crossley is the new cop in town. He's traded his city beat for a slower pace, and as a former local, knows only too well that mischief can lurk around every quiet corner.

Down the Track by Stella Quinn Down the Track by Stella Quinn

Dr Joanne Tan is an expert in a lot of things. Love isn't one of them.

Being thirty-something, broke, divorced and in a cold war with her ten-year-old son is a lot, but Jo's handling it. Just. At least she is until her job at the Natural History Museum is put in jeopardy. An invitation to dig up dinosaur bones on a remote Queensland sheep station arrives at just the right time.

The Cedar Tree (Tullagulla #1) by Heather Reyburn The Cedar Tree by Heather Reyburn

Would you accompany your husband to a run down, sun scorched sheep and cattle station in outback Queensland to save your marriage?
Grace Campbell agrees to do just that, buoyed by the belief that isolation and rural peace will repair her marriage and provide a good life for her growing family.
But, as the ramshackle old homestead, shaded by an ancient Cedar Tree, unravels it’s secrets, Grace is swept up in the harsh beauty of the outback and it’s colourful characters. As if adjusting to a new and isolated lifestyle isn’t enough, the handsome new owner of Tullagulla shows up and Grace is thrown into turmoil.

Walking the Line by Mandy Magro Walking the Line by Mandy Magro

For how long can secrets stay buried?

Country-loving Dallas Armstrong is a hard-as-nails bull rider, who dreams of becoming Australian champion, just like his father, Mick, was. But when he discovers a shocking secret about his father on the same day Mick dies in a car accident, Dallas’s world is turned upside down. Now it’s up to him to protect his mother from the truth, and to keep the family farm Rollingstone Ridge afloat. And he will do everything in his power to do so.
