Olivia Bagshaw (oliviabagshaw) | 14 comments Hi everyone!

As I'm restarting House Of Leaves, I love that House Of Leaves shifts the form of how a book can be presented, from an essay into a journal, into weird scattered pieces of unhinged notes, and I was hoping to find more books that played with the written form a bit like that, even if they're not exactly like House Of Leaves. I was wondering what people's favourite meta horror books were?

(Also your thoughts on House Of Leaves are welcome too! What did you think of it?)

Alondra Miller | 2544 comments Some folks have said The Raw Shark Texts; which I have not read and no nothing of.

I did ask the same question and picked up S. and Episode Thirteen. I am hoping they are along those same lines, but if not; other readers will help out.

Some of the best recommendations for "like" books or great recs, in general, have come from this group!!

Olivia Bagshaw (oliviabagshaw) | 14 comments Ooh ok I hadn't heard of The Raw Shark Texts, so I'll definitely check that out, the premise sounds very interesting! I remember seeing a Booktuber review S. and it sounded very elaborate and mysterious, so I'd love to check that out too. Someone I know actually recommended Episode Thirteen too, so thank you for reminding me of it, will be adding that to the reading list too :)

Not meaning to sound pedantic, but books like House of Leaves are more classified as epistolary (a term that has taken on broader meaning in modern times) so if googling for books like it you can try using that.

The Shark Texts was very much in that vein and quite good.
S. by Doug Dorst and J.J. Abrams is very similar, though more adventure/historical fiction than horror.
THE BLACK BOOK: Cosmic Horror Found Footage Police Procedural by Mike Duke has similar elements

Dylan | 11 comments PenPal by Dathan Auerbach had some House Of Leaves vibes- nothing really compares to it but you may like it.
