Joanne (joabroda1) | 12570 comments .Rocky Mountain Heat 2 stars

Rocky Mountain Heat (Six Pack Ranch #1, Rocky Mountain House #1) by Vivian Arend

This is a read for Fall Smut and fitting the other 2 main challenges-The only reason I finished it-LoL

If you want sex and the sweet girl next door who wants the oldest brother and the older guy lusting after the sweet girl but constantly reminding himself and you that he is too old for her....

Included in the story are five other brothers (I did love that the Ranch
is named Six Pack Ranch) all have having kissed the sweet girl next door and rubbing that in to the oldest brother, who they know is lusting after her.

Mediocre writing and a lot of smut

Amy | 12916 comments I think I’m gonna say that Witch Please, in audio, is feeling pretty sexy to me right now. I’m not even sure I understand the definition of smut. But I feel like you know it when you feel it. if I’m getting hot and bothered and literally have to manage my temperature, then this is smut to me. These encounters, I should say these magical encounters, are getting me going a little. I therefore think it qualifies….

Joanne (joabroda1) | 12570 comments Too Dangerous to Desire 3 stars

Too Dangerous to Desire (Lords of Midnight, #3) by Cara Elliott

My second entry for Fall into Smut - BWF being the being bonus.

Full disclosure: I was on page 162 last night when I picked up the book at 8:30, and didn't put it down until I finished it a little before 1:00AM.

There was a plot (actually a pretty good one).

Sophie, the eldest daughter of the towns widowed Preacher, who is battling dementia, long ago gave up her dreams of love in order to take care of her younger sisters. Cameron a rogue already at 16 , her childhood best friend runs from the law and her rejection. Years later The Fates bring them back together when Sophie's family is threatened with blackmail.

Frolicking lust filled fun! Was there smut? Oh yes, you needed to wait until mid book for it to truly kick in, but once it does, there is no disappointment!

One of my favorite excerpts as Cameron is teaching Sophie how to pick a lock:

"Pay attention Sunbeam. The lesson is about to commence" A dangerous glitter kindled in his eyes. " A lock is like a virtuous lady" He circled a finger tip around the keyhole. "There is a special little opening which allows you delve inside her and learn her intimate secrets, but to gain entrance requires a carefully choregraphed seduction. She doesn't yield to just anyone. You must have a skillful touch to coax her into opening up"

Thus the smut begins...

This was the third book in a series that covers 3 Rogues (called the Hell Hounds, In London society) and their fall into the arms of love. The bonus was that Sophie is not a wilting rose, but a strong woman who can match Cameron in all things.

Shocker: I want to go back and read the first two. Think that is a pretty good recommendation for a book way out of my box. 😉😅

Olivermagnus (lynda11282) | 4771 comments I'm continuing my Audible reread of the Black Dagger Brotherhood, which is filled with the lust filled adventures of a group of sexy vampires.

Book 4, Lover Revealed, features Butch O'Neal, a human ex cop who loves with the Brothers. Rating - 4.5 Smut rating is 5+ Stars
Review

Book 5, Lover Unbound, featured Vishous, one of the most complex of the BDB. His backstory is explored in horrifying detail and we begin to understand why he can only enjoy sexual release through BDSM. Smut rating = Off the charts and 5+++

Part of me wants to participate, but I confess when I want to see ridiculous smut I usually turn to fanfiction. At least then I already feel a connection to the characters and can squeal, "They'd NEVER do/say that!!!" etc.

Theresa | 15524 comments Starting my next smutty read: All I Want for Halloween by Marie Harte - and while the cover fails as a salacious bare chested male cover, do zoom in on that purple circle: All I Want for Halloween by Marie Harte .

We shall soon see. At the very least it fits October Flurries and spells for BWF.

Now where's my fan? And smelling salts?

message 117: by Theresa (last edited Oct 19, 2024 11:58PM) (new)

Theresa | 15524 comments Now this was a good one even though the cover is actually quite beautiful and lacking any naked chests or hot embraces.
Olivermagnus - I sent you a recommendation on this as you also like biker smut.

All I Want for Halloween by Marie Harte
All I Want for Halloween by Marie Harte

Sadie, a gifted baker who's still recovering from a bad break-up from years earlier, is persuaded by her gay brother and business partner Elliot to attend a fancy early Halloween party they are catering in order to mingle and schmooze for new customers. Reluctantly she attends dressed as Xena, Warrior Princess, complete with sword, as Sadie doesn't really like people, has a temper, and is blunt to the point of rudeness. As she describes her intentions: Tonight was her night to enjoy fat foods and, with any luck, a talented boy toy for some mindless pleasure. She’d seen a bunch of contenders. Men with muscular builds engaging in guy behavior. Smack-talking with friends, checking out scantily clad women, and acting not all that bright. Perfect. While hiding behind some foliage on the side of the room, eating her plate full of food and drinking her beer, she's joined by a muscular sexy Devil also looking for a place to relax out of sight to eat and drink. They hit it off and Sadie knows she has just found her muscled boy toy to end her sex drought.

However, what Sadie doesn't know is that her big muscled devil is actually Gear, the star of a reality tv show around his custom design and build motorcycle shop which has imploded and is all over social media and the tabloids due to his punching out his business partner on prime time over his partner sleeping with his fiancee, also part of the show. As they continue to be drawn together, his notoriety and the continued fall-out from the reality show will not only set obstacles in their romance - and it is a romance as Gear is actually a very sweet honorable loving guy - and bring all Sadie's insecurities front and center.

Make no mistake, this is a hot smutty romance, with plenty of sex, though no real use of euphemisms. In fact it would just be raunchy if it wasn't often so funny, such as at their first intimate engagement during that Halloween Party:

Devil’s invitation was all in his lips, his hips, and his personal pitchfork pressing insistently against her belly. and Her panties would never be the same. And neither would her sex life. Hmm. Maybe she should frame them, have him sign her ass before he left.

Closest to a colorful euphemism that the sex gets is this:

He put his mouth where his words were, and he loved her into an orgasm that flowed through her hard and fast, like a tidal wave of pleasure that finally ebbed.

While this is really quite bluntly smutty though more entertainingly so than sweat-inducing in the reader, there's actually a real romance plot of 2 broken hearts finding each other and mending, and lots of fun secondary characters in both families and their respective businesses. Sadie is a true badass who stands up for those she cares for verbally and with a strong right hook. Gear may be a huge muscled tattooed biker but he's also a true gentleman with a warm heart. I wanted them to end up together in a HEA.

I think this is an author whose other works and even series I will dip into, especially if she keeps delivering lines like this - Smoke is one of the mechanics in the bike shop and Sahara is Gear's cheating ex-fiancee:

“Well, Smoke called Sahara a can’t. Because he said if he’d called her that other c-word, he’d have been censored.

Now THAT's a euphemism!

Theresa | 15524 comments As we draw nearer the end of the year and various challenges, I thought I'd post when our Fall Into Smut fun will officially end:

The Winter Solstice - December 21.

That allows for a few of those smutty Christmas romances to show up and be counted as part of December flurries. I have a couple all lined up -- and looking forward to reading them without any annual challenge needing my attention!

Book Concierge (tessabookconcierge) | 8414 comments Rocky Mountain Heat by Lori Wilde
Rocky Mountain Heat – Lori Wilde – 2**
Originally published as All of Me , this is book four in the Wedding Veil Wishes series. This is a typical enemies-to-friends-to-lovers plot with a little “magic” thrown in. It's a bit of a slow burn, but they do eventually have fantastic sex, after which they break up. But the magic of the wedding veil (and of the sweat lodge) will not be denied. It’s a pretty fast read, despite being very predictable. Oh, and there's a cute dog, too.

Book Concierge (tessabookconcierge) | 8414 comments Lord Dashwood Missed Out (Spindle Cove, #4.5) by Tessa Dare
Lord Dashwood Missed Out – Tessa Dare – 2.5**
A typical regency romance with a devilishly handsome gentleman (who isn’t much of a gentleman), and a prim lady of impeccable reputation, forced to endure a potentially compromising situation, and then embracing the compromise wholeheartedly. Bodices heave, knees go weak, their passion overcomes any hesitancy. A fun, fast read.

Rachel N. | 2241 comments I actually finished my first book for this. Some ridiculous smut was definitely needed now. I didn't write down any goofy quotes though, maybe in the next book.

Ice Planet Barbarians (Ice Planet Barbarians, #1) by Ruby Dixon

Ice Planet Barbarians-Ruby Dizon 3 stars

A bunch of 22 year old females are taken by aliens presumably to be sold as slaves. The part of the ship with the women is left behind on an ice planet with the aliens eventually planning to return to retrieve them. Georgie decides to go out and try to find help. She finds a tall, blue alien who realizes Georgie is his mate. Mainly what ensues is a lot of sex between Georgie and Vektal, the alien. There is some plot, not much, but mainly it's about the two characters. I liked both of them and this was fun. I ended up with the extended edition which has a story about Georgie trying to hunt and Vektal and Georgie's "honeymoon". I needed some mindless reading and this fills the bill. I don't plan on reading more in the series right now but I have no objections to reading more in the future.

message 141: by Sue (new)

Sue | 2719 comments I just finished a cute romance with surprise smut! Mrs. Nash's Ashes

With this cover, and the very mild book description, I would have thought any sex scenes would be a couple kisses then fade to black...

Mrs. Nash's Ashes by Sarah Adler

But no. We're enjoying a funny, occasionally hilarious road trip. Romance is clearly brewing and my only question was when how these two will finally realize they're in Loooooove.

Then BAM! It gets really graphic. Not even a tiny fig leaf or hazy euphemism to hide behind.

I'm clearly not opposed to this development, but I can only imagine the casual, non-smut reader wondering what the heck just happened to their nice, friendly romance! I mean everyone on the cover is fully clothed and everything.

The best part of this sudden smut fest are the dozens of paint-by-numbers Jesus pictures on the walls of their bed and breakfast room. The hero of the story eventually turns all the pictures toward the wall so Jesus stops watching. 😂

Theresa | 15524 comments So there isn't any smut per se in A Perilous Undertaking by Deanna Raybourn, BUT there is borderline smut ... in their investigation, they end up visiting - more than once - the closed up Elysian Grotto on the estate of the convicted murderer, which is nothing less than the Victorian era dungeon for debauchery similar to the Hellfire Club of old where aristocrats get to indulge in all their smutty fantasies and then some. There are descriptions of what they find, including a collection of 'sex toys' that Stoker is too embarassed to call by their common English name so resorts to other languages as euphamisms. Of course Veronica, being curious to a fault, has to examine and place herself in a version of King Edward VII's Love Chair, including testing out the stirrups, much to Stoker's discomfort.

Lady Wellie added some euphemisms hereself at several points in the story as she alludes to her own past escapades. She was naughty!

message 150: by Theresa (last edited Nov 27, 2024 05:00PM) (new)

Theresa | 15524 comments Well, I had an unexpected and a bit unusual smutty romance encounter in my last read.

Soulless: The Manga, Vol. 1 is a Manga version of Gail Carriger's Soulless. The end of course is Alexia and Conall consummating their marriage in the carriage on their way to wherever the honeymoon will be - all shown up to a point in the artwork. Artist gave Conall a lovely ass! And while nudity was abundant and it was clear what positions would be employed, it was still pretty chaste. Didn't cause me to heat up at all.

The funniest and best part throughout were Alexia's boobs. She was tightly corseted of course. As is typical in Manga they were large and bulbous, lovely decolletage, tiny wasp waste. Almost all the gowns were designed to show so much of her bust that you not only wondered how she wasn't popping out, you also wondered why her nipples weren't showing. 🤣

They were well appreciated by the men - vampire, werewolf, human - in the book.
