๐ŸŽƒ Hooked on Books Newsletter: October 2024 Edition ๐ŸŽƒ
Greetings, Boo-tiful bookworms! As the veil between worlds thins, we've conjured up some spine-tingling updates and hair-raising reads to haunt your October nights!

A quick reminder... Goodreads Notification Necromancy
The spirits at Goodreads have performed some dark magic on their notification system:
๐Ÿ‘ป Email notifications have vanished into thin air
๐Ÿ‘ป To summon notifications, cast a spell by checking the "Notify me when people comment" box at the bottom of each thread
๐Ÿ‘ป For an avalanche of notifications, adjust your profile settings, but beware - you might awaken challenges you never meant to join!
๐Ÿ‘ป The "digest" potion remains available in your profile cauldron, with daily, weekly, or opt-out incantations

September Victors
Raise your wands and cast a celebratory spell for our ghostly champions:

๐Ÿ† Team Ventnor Verse Venturers: These literary sorcerers bewitched their way to victory in the Bookopoly challenge!

๐Ÿ† Listopia Legends: Our top three necromancers of book lists are...
๐Ÿ1st: Maple Maestro of Book Lists Sammy (142 points)
๐Ÿ2nd: Harvest Moon Bibliographer Jenny (90 points)
๐Ÿ3rd: Pumpkin Spice Page Curator Angie โ˜ฏ (48 points)

๐Ÿ† TBR Busters Extraordinaires: These brave souls exorcised the most tomes from their shelves...
๐Ÿ1st: Scallywag โกRisa (79 points)
๐Ÿ2nd: Scurvy Dogs LaurLa and Angie โ˜ฏ (74 points)
๐Ÿ3rd: Landlubber Jenny (63 points)

๐Ÿ† Water Balloon Wars Awards: Congratulations to the Spectacular Splooshers for their haunting hydro victory! And a ghostly shout-out to Richard, our phantom of the water balloons, who somehow managed to dominate every category. Is he a water wizard or just a very wet target? The mystery remains unsolved! ๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿ‘ป
๐Ÿ Winning Team: Spectacular Splooshers
๐Ÿ Most Hits: Richard
๐Ÿ Most Misses: Richard
๐Ÿ Most Hits Taken: Richard

๐Ÿ‘ป HOB Group News & Upcoming Challenges Thread (The announcement thread is for challenge & member news. Please don't post there. Only mods should be posting there. Keep it clear of chatter, lest you awaken angry spirits!)
๐Ÿ‘ป Don't forget about our HowTo folder. It is full of helpful Howto items to guide you around Goodreads. We get asked a lot of questions that are already answered in this tome of knowledge!
๐Ÿ‘ป Please note that the Goodreads app doesn't always show everything in the thread. As your mods, we have tried to accommodate this but we can't fix everything. Our members should use a PC whenever they can to avoid being cursed with missing information.

May your October be filled with delightfully spooky stories and things that go bump in the night! Happy haunting, bookworms! ๐Ÿ‘ป๐Ÿ“š๐ŸŽƒ

Your spectral mods,
Donna, Namita, Amanda, Ashley, Michelle, Trina, Bobbi & Angie

I agree with Cassie, this was a fun newsletter! Love all the Halloween and spooky treats sprinkled throughout.

Also, agree with Richard that that seems like a very rational fear LOL
