Booknblues | 12072 comments Two sad lonely people, Marnie who lives in London and Michael who lives in York have isolated themselves. Marnie reads and Michael walks. They have a mutual friend Cleo who feels duty bound to brighten the lives of her sad and lonely friends. Cleo is a bit of a busy body.

She encourages Michael to plot a path for walking and badgers Marnie into joining. The walk is across England from the Irish Sea to the North Sea beginning in the Lake District.

I love reading about a walking journey and I became entranced with these two characters and was up for the adventure even through horrid rains, until it just became a little too slow and dull for me.

I soldiered on because it is a short book and I wanted to see what the author, David Nicholls had to offer. After the stall it picked up and I enjoyed the ending.

This is not a rave book, but more of read it and see what you think. I'm open to reading more by the author.

3.5 for me means that I liked it, with some reservations.

That is it exactly. There was a point in the middle that I wondered if I wanted to keep reading, but I liked both main characters and wanted it to end happily, so kept with it.
