I'm Sam and I also live in the Pacific NW (USA) with my husband, 1.5yo daughter, and dog, Moo~! I love to read across a large variety of genres but I'm still a tried and true fantasy fan!
Here is my wheels link and I will catch up on the chat soon

I love some of the answers to my silly quiz. I am a little shocked that not one person would prefer a unicorn over a dragon. And, that there are a couple of Santa doubters in the house. Whatever. teehee
Anyway, we are all here, so thank you soooooo much for checking in, and I hope we all have a lot of fun with the Wheel this time out.
I maybe should have asked if we had a plumber among us since our first task is to unblock the u-bend.
As someone who recently had to have my old cast iron pipes replaced all through the house, I am a big fan of someone who knows how to do that stuff. Not a big fan of the bill, but, worth it.

Everyone should be able to edit the Tracking SS with just the link."
Thanks Angie.

Getting excited??!!??!!

Same, says it's protected.

Can you try now?
I'm blaming my crazy week for all these oopsies that are on the SS! 😂

My first hardcover is going to be

Anyone finished their first 900 page book in the first 45 minutes? No? teehee
Happy Wheel day Everyone!

I hear this from my mom all the time. I have a 1.5yo and I had my parents watch her while my husband and I had a weekend trip with some friends. To quote my dad, "She never stops moving!"

I totally understand. I raised 4 kids, but don't remember them being anything like my niece and nephew, who are 5 and almost 2. Whenever I babysit, I get no reading done unless they are asleep. They never stop.
So, the fact that you are reading at all is amazing. I imagine you are only getting a few pages in at bedtime.

I swear there are SS gremlins about!! Not sure what I did, but I think it's open again.

Me, not so much. I have done a reread of a book I liked, and a new read of one that was kind of meh. I am hoping the next ones will be ones that I want to recommend to others!!!!

I'm raising a one year old and finding it harder and harder to read! I can often take him out on a stroller ride at night and get some audiobook listening in.

Me on the other hand, I'm on maternity leave with my 2 month old for another 2 weeks and purposely have her falling asleep on me so I'm "nap trapped," can't get up, and just have to stay seated with a book in my hand!

This right here makes me want another baby hahahah.

You got this!!! Praying for you and that special bub!

That sounds lovely. No rest for Nana busy chasing a 2 year old and saying no!!!!!! Lol

Hello from our long commute! I was wondering, if you have finished this, what are your thoughts? I really liked The Girl on the Train, but Into the Water not so much. Her third book I still have on my radar-ish but not sure if I'll ever read tbh. And The Blue Hour I wasn't aware of even existing /being written, but it does sound more interesting to me than her previous one... If you've read any, how do her other books compare to The Blue Hour for you?

Hello from our long commute! I was wondering, if you have finished this, what are your thoughts?..."
I felt it was meh. I am with you - I loved Girl on the Train and not Into the Water. This was slow and kinda obvious, and very repetitive. It has a great setting, but there is only so much I can read about the ride haha

Hello from our long commute! I was wondering, if you have finished this, what ..."

jet lag has been kicking my butt but just wanted to say I'm still reading!
going to kick off Jenny's quiz with a couple of answers :)
- we do celebrate Halloween but we haven't been able to dress up our our little one even though she's almost 2. last year she was just under 1 and this year we will be abroad!
I think my favorite costume has been Quailman from Doug
And negative on the costume this year. hoping to do better next year

Um...Um...uhmm
-Realizing that this list changes with time and mood, what are your top 5 books of all time?
A Confederacy of Dunces, the first and third HP books, 11/22/63, there's so many memoirs/biographies I've liked I can't pick one
-Do you celebrate Halloween?
If by celebrate you mean buy pounds and pounds of half price candy then yes
-Candy that you like the most that either doesn't make it to the trick-or-treaters, or gets "stolen" from your children's stash?
Butterfingers and Heath. Everything else is a distant third
-If you could live anywhere (money not withstanding) where would it be?
Near a mountain on a lake
-Are you a sports fan? Playing or watching?
LOVE!! It's on all weekend at our house. Watching now, used to be playing
-Best (or latest) concert(s) you have been to?
I really dislike concerts, my partner goes to 40 a year and our agreement to not include me is what keeps us together
-Favorite movie that was made from a book you loved?
2nd LOTR

I still haven't actually watched The Hobbit movies yet. I can't get past that the short book was turned into three movies.

no, not that I can really think of
-Realizing that this list changes with time and mood, what are your top 5 books of all time?
Harry Potter (series), Hunger Games (trilogy), The Giving Tree, Timeline, Babel
-Do you celebrate Halloween?
Yes!
-Best ever costume you have worn?
When I was little, my mom made me a Tiger Lily costume (from Peter Pan) and I very vividly remember her painting patterns on felt and gluing details on. I don't know if we even have any pictures of it but the memory of the intricate hand-made costume is very sweet to me.
-Are you wearing one this year?
That I don't know. We are doing trick-or-treat duty at home and then doing bar trivia so I'm just trying to think of something simple comfy cozy...maybe couples themed with my husband...
-Candy that you like the most that either doesn't make it to the trick-or-treaters, or gets "stolen" from your children's stash?
Twix for me and Skittles for my husband...but we try to hand as much out as possible.
-If you could live anywhere (money not withstanding) where would it be?
We honestly really love where we live. Maybe a bigger house on more land in the same area but really we are right where we want to be
-Are you a sports fan? Playing or watching?
Watching only. Baseball (Chicago Cubs) and football I don't even understand but the rivalry is fun. Since moving to TN we are now Vols fans, and my husband is a die hard Eagles fan.
-Best (or latest) concert(s) you have been to?
Its been a while but last concert was Fallout Boy! I've seen them about half a dozen times
-Favorite movie that was made from a book you loved?
The Hunger Games for sure!
