river of time series by Lisa t Bergen (first book is waterfall) I highly recommend taking a look (at least) and read the summary or what it's about.

Boys of Tommen is my literal Roman Empire so definitely that one, and the selection series was also really fun, and then the Divine Rivals/Ruthless Vows duology even though it's technically not a series.
