Golden Age of Hollywood Book Club discussion

This is a tentative experiment which I may not even maintain regularly. It's too difficult these days.

Goal: name THREE movies an actor starred in --strictly on the basis of the name.

No looking up the name. Answers should come from off the top of your head.

Participate 'blindly'. No outside help. Stand on your honor. Time wounds all heels!

Anyone can post an actor's name --but they IDEALLY should be supporting actors.


1) Woodrow Parfrey

(2) Anthony James

Anthony James was made to play the bad guy but I can only think of one film in which he appeared.....High Plains Drifter.

Woodrow Parfey: The only roles that I can remember are those when he appeared in the iconic Perry Mason tv series several times.

Kathleen Lockhart

I can't name a single movie she appeared in

Only one I can think of is 'A Christmas Carol', the one with Reginald Owen.

I think that she was in the Nelson Eddy/Jeanette McDonald film Sweethearts...........but I'm not sure. That's a tough one, Laura.

I knew of her from A Christmas Carol and Lady in the Lake. I think she was also in Hedy Lamarr movie I watched....but can't recall what the title was. Strange Woman or Dishonored Lady something like that. I know Lamarr was in two movies with very similar names.

(4) Beryl Mercer

Hmmm. Wondering how to make this challenge more robust.

Perhaps the person posing the question should supply the actor's real life name, rather than their stage/professional name.

At the same time, cite a movie they appear in.

This might create a few tricky twists and turns?

Ok...... Beryl Mercer (her real name) in Public Enemy (1930)

James Griffith (his real name). High School chum of Glenn Ford.

James Griffith was all over tv in the late 50s and 60s but I couldn't tell you any films in which he appeared.

The only one I think he might have been in was 'Raintree County.'
