So in 2021, a horror author called LC von Hessen whose work I enjoy published a short story collection called Spiritus Ex Machina. Later this fall, von Hessen is publishing what seems to be an updated, vastly different edition of Spiritus Ex Machina. The 2021 S.E.M. only had 5 stories in it, but the 2024 S.E.M. has a brand new introduction from another author and has been expanded to include 9 new stories.
My question is: since the two collections are so different, should they be kept as separate books, or should they be combined into one book with the 2024 release being considered an updated and expanded edition of the original 2021 release?
Thanks for the clarification, will probably start a thread to clean up the new collection soon, and I'll make sure to request that the librarian cleaning it up add a librarian note to it to differentiate it from the older collection.
