3 star rating for me. I liked the writing style but it lacked that thriller aspect. There wasn’t like a gasping twist which i like in my thrillers. The last two chapters really threw me. I feel like there was so much missing and i was just left to assume what happened. I thought i had missed something when it just jumped a year into the future. Didn’t like that. I would read something else by this author as this book was pretty good

starting this audio later today. i need a little break from my romantasy books.

Ch. 1-11 (view spoiler)[ so far this is not my cup of tea. I’m doing the audio so I think it will pull me through but honestly if I was reading I think I would’ve stopped. The alluding to 3 years without speaking just to be reunited with no issues is not really enough to incite curiosity. Missing Dawn might be a string worth pulling though so we will forge on! Ch.12-18 (view spoiler)[ so nothing is happening. If this wasn’t a BOM I would dnf now but I’m determined to get these triple points. Frank is not a character I can connect with and I don’t really care for Maggie or the other characters. Not dislike per-say but just ambivalent. End of Part III (view spoiler)[ Everyone including the daughter is hiding something and I don’t like it. What’s up with his daughter though, I mean I know he’s a little overbearing but it’s clear he’s missed her so much and just wants to spend time with her and seems like that’s the last thing she wants. End of Part IV (view spoiler)[What in the hell just happened during this last part. Like literally wtf? The daughter is not even with the son but his father instead 🤮 not that it matters now since he’s dead 😱 seriously what in the hell? Maggie is most certainly not right in the head and clearly has sociopathic tendencies and sadly she’s found like minded people 🙁 Kinda feel bad how he’s learning so much yet still not wanting to see the truth! Plus like dude just shut up at this point before they kill you too! (hide spoiler)]

Finished (view spoiler)[I really hoped this last part would save the book for me or at least fix the colossal mess that took place before. I have so many feelings but honestly I’m kind of disappointed in our MC. His daughter continues to show him who she is and he refuses to see the truth. After everything that he witnessed I’m disappointed he didn’t just take the map and rationally decide what to do. For his safety I’d have just sent the map to the young lady’s family anonymously and then mind the F off. Plus now he’s still at risk because the money will always make the more powerful. And umm his daughter was the only one to serve time, kinda bogus charges considering her personality but like I just don’t get his logic in almost all his behaviors and actions. Guess I can recognize I’m not a fan of his but I do appreciate his basically adopting Abigail and being a father figure for her. Kinda disappointed I didn’t like this that much to be honest since I feel like I waited a while for its release. The authors previous book was much better. (hide spoiler)]

i felt there was a bigger focus on daddy long legs than on where the book was going. i dnf'd

You're not wrong and I can totally understand why you gave it up. The end was such a letdown anyways so you didn't miss anything great!
